Because there is an inbalance of power between the child and the adult. This is what creates and breeds all abuse- power imbalances. It is not a crime of passion and it is not a "release" of steam- an adult is responsible for controlling their own actions. It is never the child's fault, no child deserves to ever be hurt physically or emotionally. This is why systems of formal and informal support and systems of education are so intrical to irradicating this problem. When a parent abuses their child they are breaking the law, however they probably will never be convicted of a crime. There's not "one" particular thing that triggers abuse. There are a ton of reasons. Maybe it's the only kind of disipline they have ever known, or, as a child they were abused, or, they have mental issues. It could just be that they are incapable of controling their emotions, or when a child acts up, they aren't able to deal with the childs behavior, so they are only able to do "what they know", abuse...Hope this helps.

Because most people dont know a few things about parenting, Restraint, Discipline vs Letting it go, Positive re enforcment, Anger managment, What makes you angry, What it really means to be abusive, The effect being abused previously has on you, how you view god feels about you is how you feel about your children, It is ok to hit on only one place on the body that is specifically designed for dicipline- the butt-, slapping or hitting is not ok (it's an extremely childish way of handling dicipline) KIDS NEED YOUR TIME AND THEY ARE ALWAYS MORE IMPORTANT THAT WHATEVER YOU ARE DOING RIGHT NOW. IF YOU BEAT YOUR CHILDREN AND READ THIS QUIT IT, IT IS WRONG, IF YOUr KID ANNOYS YOU TO THE POINT OF A BEATING IT IS BECAUSE YOU DONT SPEND ENOUGH TIME WITH THEM. IF YOU DONT LIKE THIS TOO BAD, IT IS TRUE.

mental issues, that abusers parents might have done it to them so that may be all they know other then that they are sick and twisted in the head

i know its sick, i have a ten year old and i love her more than life it makes me cry buckets when i see these poor children on tv that have been abused or even murdered ,
