Slingbox is a very inexpensive device that includes no subscription fees. It attaches to any tv tuner to include a cable box, dvr or Tivo. It connects to your home network and you load their software on your laptop. Take your laptop anywhere in the world and with a high speed internet connection, it allows you to connect with your cable set top box or dvr and control it from wherever you are. I was in a hotel room three time zones away recently and watched my home town 11 pm news at 8 pm CA time on my laptop.
