This is a repeat of a question posted by someone called"NOT CPT" which was deleted immediately without just cause: "Ok, has anyone ever realized that religion may just be denial of insignificance and meaning? I am not CPT yahoo, so don't delete it."

Yes religion is an attempt to give meaning to our all too short lives. When I look at it that way, it softens my attitude toward all faiths.

I suppose anything is possible.

But why would you think life is insignificant and devoid of meaning?

Maybe it is true , we are just animals born to die.

But then again, maybe not.

Basically, I dont think it is a good question :-)

I personally think a persons religious beliefs mean different things to different people. For some it very well maybe an attempt to avoid facing their own mediocrity and with faith in a certain religion they become "special".

As far as meaning, IF there is one, We probably wont know for sure until we die.

So, I believe we ALL create our own meaning, Take a look at atheists and evolution, They see themselves as a part of a greater scheme of nature, Much like a religious person would see themselves as a part of the plans of God.

Maybe the asker deleted it. But if it is and religion brings a little comfort to such a troubled generation why knock it down. To realize something is to have proof, and no I do not believe that the human race is insignificant and that life has no meaning, why would feelings be important then, why not just bare instincts.

So I don't get bounced, the VERY CLEAR ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS yes, quite possibly they do.

I had a question pulled on here last night. I asked if I could be allowed to explain the difference between a hypothesis and a theory. Yet, they will allow spam adverts for rip off websites 20 time a day. Very strange people.

You must first define what religion you are talking about. Religion is nothing more than doing something over and over again with a believe that something will happen as a result.

OK Then brushing your teeth is a religious act. Because I believe if I DONT brush I will have bad breath and I will loose my teeth. Do not make the mistake of confusing religious beliefs with a divine experience.

Yeah, I pity them sometimes. It must be awful to look upon all the wonders of the universe and feel nothing but fear. I mean, sure it's a big universe and we're just one planet, but that's no reason to feel insignificant. Right now, this planet and this life are all we've got. They are precious and we should hold onto them, instead of looking forward to some imaginary afterlife.

no its not. Religiong isn't really that much of a big deal. The deal is that Jesus is coming soona dn we need to all come to Him adn stop playing around. People think that they have years to play around and keep turning God down, but htey wil be sorry when Jesus comes and they see that they wasted their time being of the world. Which is something that we should be carefult o not do. Do not be of the world. The only religion in this world is Christianity.

Seems like it. People are desperate to believe that they aren't just animals who are born, will live and eventually die. Religion gives them a purpose and a higher power that loves them very much.

Since insignificance and meaning are opposites, how can you deny both, and have anything left?

I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own. I resign.
