anytime they are using their imagination is good for them. Activities don't always have to be organized, nor do they need to be done "together"

Hide and seek with tag or lots of running (great for exercise.) Candy Land is my favorite board game from childhood. Peekaboo is cute but a three year old will probably get bored with this. I forgot, Duck, Duck Goose. A one year old is not going to understand counting games or memory games as well.

Duck Duck goose
Ring around the Rosie
London Bridge is Falling Down
I Spy with my little eye
What is Bigger (the apple or the chair)
Hookey Pokey
try to play some that have co-ordination skills, as they get old (1 is young) you can add more of the acedemic games.

Peek a boo.... best academic game for the age. They learn that things that go away sometimes come back.... building with blocks or duplos.... things can be put together and taken apart.... banging on pots (drums).... learn rhythm, ... counting games (up to 3 or four, with blocks or anything... read to them... the sound of your voice reading from pages gets them ready to read.

The reason so many play this stuff with kids is because it works and the kids learn.

Lots of singing games are good fun and educational, especially the ones where they will learn letters / numbers / colours etc.

hide and seek is good and my grands like making a tent out of a quilt draped over the table. they play in it for hours.

dominoes is also good, they learn to count and stack them up and of course knock them down.

At this age it somewhat is bigger just to place out a team of toys and enable the youngsters play. prepared activities are extra suitable for the older toddlers. in case you could desire to have planned activities you ought to do markers and/or paint and paper or a extremely basic craft activity. have faith me, the youngsters would be lots happier in case you furnish basic activities like bubbles and blocks.

how about trying a puzzle hunt make them find puzzle pieces and try to put it together with each other. but try to split the pieces in half so they know how many they each have to find (the last part might be hard for a 1 yr. old)
