A little caffeine can be helpful to stimulate your thinking. Also, make sure to have a balanced breakfast that includes moderate protein and complex carbs in equal proportion. Finally, I have always heard that crunching down on a peppermint right before the test helps give you a zing. Good Luck :)

Anything really, because being hungry is what is a detriment. Something energy packed and stimulating if it's the morning or you've had a long day before the test.

"If you remember to add lots of color to your diet you'll be doing well when it comes to foods healthy for brain function," she says. "Proteins include legumes, nuts, fish, beef, chicken and eggs. Fruits such as melons and berries – especially strawberries and/or blueberries – are a great source of 'brain food,' as are green, orange and red vegetables. Of course soy foods should be added to the diet. And good news for chocolate lovers: Dark chocolate is a great source of brain food, in moderation of course."

Oatmeal with bananas. A cup of coffee or hot tea. (Or iced tea if it's a hot day.)

Bananas any time of the day (for the potassium and energy).
