I Always make big batches of soups from scratch like Beef, Chicken, Split Pea, Stew, ETC. And then freeze the remaining for am=nother meal without all the trouble. Today I made Clam chowder from scratch. ( long process ). So I'd like to freeze and have it again without all the toil.... HOWEVER, unlike my other soups and stews, this one contains Clams (obviously) and cream. So can I still freeze it?

You can certainly freeze a food with clams and cream in it. However once thawed Potatoes take on a gritty nasty texture. If I'm cooking to freeze I leave out the taters.

After thawing, the potatoes may have a grainy texture to them, but the chowder will be good to eat as well as the taters. So freeze what ya can't eat.

Yes. But the same rule applies for how long clams and and cream can be kept frozen and still be good. If there are potatos in it, they will be gritty when thawed. What do you use to thicken your broths/stocks/soups. niungayok@yahoo.com

Just because it has clams it it doesn't matter. Of course you can freeze it just like anything else.

I don't see why you can't. I make cream of mushroom soup with 1/2 & 1/2, onions, sour cream and roux and freeze it all the time.

Yes. Make sure you get good air-tight containers that manufacturers like Zip Lock or Gladware make. Always date the containers, and use the oldest first - FIFO principle (first in first out).

Absolutely, just seal it up in a good air tight container for freezing.
