The cause and effect of cigarette smoking is a slowly progressive plague that my Gandmother died from. I miss her. She diden't want to die but she was so addicted and weak. I belive if she could be alive and as if she never starded smoking but with the knowlidge of the extreme pain and suffering she would eperience, she would simply decline the weaknesses of addiction and death!
I have never known a body to be in such agony as some time before the end of her life. Will people ever be safe from this terrible psychological disease.

My father woke up on his 65th birthday having a massive heart attack from 50 years of smoking. Guess what? He couldn't smoke in the CCU and when he got out he never touched another cigarette (thank God!) He just turned 70 in May and he's doing very well. It's never too late to quit!!!

I smoke and I know it's bad for me. Why do I do it? Because I like the way it makes me feel and it helps me calm down. I am not a heavy smoker but I do smoke everyday. (1/3 pack/day) I am planning on quitting but I don't want to yet. I'm sure a lot of the things I use cigs for (like tension) are also caused by them. I want to quit by the summer next year because @ 23 I noticed I am getting fine lines around my mouth. I've been smoking for about 9 yrs and never quit, so I know I am damaging my body.

But... smoking is a right. It is a luxury. I am completely against smoking around children, but on my own time I don't see a problem with it. My body, my choice.

No, people won't quit because they don't care or don't bother to take the steps required to do so. Everyone has the capacity, it just takes a lot of work and most people don't want to put up with it.
