I had a bad childhood, but I still have a fond memory of a fun camping holiday, where we were aloud to stay up late, play ball games, go to the beach, eat ice-creams, and be happy. What good memories do you have?

There was a day when I was about 4, when it had been snowing really hard. Me and my older sister were in my gran's garden and we had been pulling each other around on the snow on the seat of an old chair tied to a bit of rope.
When my grandpa came home, he had bought us a proper sledge, it was so exciting.
So my gran took us up onto Epsom Downs, right beside her house, and we went sledging down the hill that was shaped like a valley. Then, I noticed that the ground between the hills also sloped, so me and my gran decided to sledge down it that way instead. We went whizzing all the way to the end, people had to jump out of the way, and when we got the end there was a big mushy puddle that I remember as being like a lake - we couldn't stop so we both ended up soaking wet, but it was one of the funniest things I can remember!
I guess when you're 4 things like that just seem funnier - it's one of my favourite memories of my gran though, who passed away earlier this year and who I miss loads!

Family holidays in the 60's. Getting up at 3 in the morning and heading for Devon in my dad's old Poplar van. We would have blankets and pillows in the back so we could sleep (not that we did) and then pulling over on the road about 7am and having a sandwich and tea made on a camper stove. It used to take about 9-10hrs to get there then, but what an adventure! How things have changed-kids miss such a lot now.

I also had a bad childhood but I have fond memories of going on holiday to Jersey with my parents (before they split) and my grandparents.
We were there when Charles and Di were married and we drove down to St Helier in the back of a truck(driven by the guest house owners)decorated with Union Jacks to watch a huge fire work display.

My best childhood memory is at Christmas time and my whole family helps to decorate the house from the tree to the lights. Christmas has always been a big thing in my family. It was one of the few times we actually did something as a whole family.

Isn't it sad so many of us have bad childhoods. Some of my happiest memories are of playing house in my backyard and using leaves and dirt to make wonderful gourmet meals! I had such fun cooking up a storm. I was busy for hours. I'm an only child so I was pretty happy playing alone.

driving down to the beach in my mums summer car (very old banger that leaked when it rained), she used to take as often as possible nearly every time it was sunny, used to get there really early and leave when the sun had set. such fun there. also going to lulworth cove, i love that place its so peaceful and scenic, i havent been there since i was very young but i hope to make the effort next year. also now xmas is coming upi remember my mum used to put oranges in our stockings ( i always ate it), we would leave carrotts, a mince pie, a pint of beer and letter for him lol. even though you have bad memories of your childhood, never forgot the good, they are the most precious ones of all.

Moving to America when I was 8. We arrived 2 days after a 22inch snowstorm(we had never seen snow). Trying to find my Dad at the airport(he came 2 weeks earlier). Searching the airport and there he was, in this parka coat and one of those huge Russian hats. Talk about falling over laughing.

It seems a bit corny or what not, but honestly my best child hood memories were those when i used to be in my room. I'd have the curtains closed, one light on, some slow country music playing in the back ground and I'd be on my bed reading a book. Those memories usually make me smile...

We went paddling in a river near our home. I was warned not to fall in, as I did not have a change of clothing. Of course, I fell in and got soaked up to the middle. My friend's little brother was with us and he did have a change of clothing, so my friend's mum made me wear his Paisley Patterned Y-fronts!! it wasn't funny at the time, but I can look back on it and laugh now.
