That is the reason I try to go at times when the crowds will be less. As time goes by, people have just gotten ruder and ruder. What we once thought was an automatic courtesy has faded away. Perhaps theatres should go back to the old fashioned way of having ushers in the theatres to help quell the annoying talkers and misdoers.

It's never been OK to me. I just won't go to the movies on an opening night just for this reason. I wait a few nights when I think it won't be as packed. Even then there are still some talkers.
I think some people confuse the theatre for a dance club or bar where they have to talk over the music so that the person they are talking to can hear them. It's down right rude.
It's not exactly cheap to see a movie either. Some people obviously don't care about money and just waste theirs and everyone else's for that matter. It's almost better to wait and just rent it when it comes out. Some times you have to rent it anyways to hear the parts you missed.

Where have you been.....this has been going on for years and I hate it so much I rarely go to the movies anymore.
I was raised in a family with 9 children and we would never think to talk during the movies because our parents raised us to be considerate of other people.
Try going to the library where people are laughing and talking like they're in a club.
Sadly manners are history with some people

It is NOT okay to talk in movie theaters. I am very comfortable telling people to be quiet when appropriate. Additionally, at my local theater, the management does not put up with that type of behavior, and is quick to kick-out anyone who is creating a nuisance.
I highly recommend that you stand up for yourself the next time you come across this problem. If they won't follow the rules based on your polite request for them to be quiet, get the theater management involved. They won't like to know that their customers aren't having a wonderful experience.

I can't stand it. I go with my friends sometimes, and there's a couple of them that just insist on talking and it always embarrases me and pisses me off. It's like, shut up, stop asking questions, stop trying to have a conversation because 1) We're in a theater to watch a movie, not talk 2) I can't ******* hear you, we're in a ******* movie.

omg i think it became ok just about the same time it became ok to bring babies or small screaming children to rated R movies.
I ALWAYS go to the manager and get my money back if either of these situations occur. its rude and annoying
