Don't call her out of nowhere - call her from your house - just call her.

Bite the bullet.

Save some money, find a good comedy playing in the theater, and call her up, ask her if she'd like to go to a movie. Tell her you don't want to go see it by yourself and you thought she might like to go. Even if she's already seen it or has other plans already, she will know that you wanted to take her out to a movie. Make sure to mention that it's your treat.

PS - Don't try anything while you're out together unless you're sure she's interested in more than just a platonic movie jaunt. After that, you have some common ground and can talk to her more about other things.

Just call her what's the worst that can happen. If anything you could get a great friendship out of it preferably more though so just go for it.

if you see her often, then talk to her, start small conversations. if not, look up her number and give her a call. maybe ask if you could go out sometime, like to a small coffie shop or somthing. Just be like hey, fi your not busy then i was wondering if maybe we could go out as friends to the place up the street. who knows? you might really hit it off

Women, love attention! Either way, you can not lose. If it is your fear that is holding you back, then allow me to address that for you. Fear is nothing more than a step to greater self confidence. Have you ever noticed that when you have "confronted" a fear that you 1. realize that it was not as bad as you thought, and 2. that you feel good about yourself for "stepping up to the plate". You have what it takes to achieve your goals. Just believe in yourself. I believe in you.

say, "hey. remember me from high school, (your name here)?"
if she responds, "Yeah! or yes, or m-hm in a pleasant tone, keep talking. "well, i was wondering if you wanted to go out. pizza and a movie?" she'll most likely say yes but make sure she doesn't already have a boyfriend! say that you're treating her. act really nice, not in a bored to too casual tone. if she responds not so well to your first question, say, "well, just saying hi. bye!" and that should clear things up.
