I need a dog food that is really gentle and easy on my dog's stomach. She has a sensitive tummy! Which food is the gentlest? I am choosing b/t california naturals lamb and rice, and wellness fish and sweet potato.

They are both good foods from what I know... but Wellness does use only human grade ingredients, and I don't think California Natural can make that claim (not sure, they don't sell it here) I personally think Blue Buffalo is the best on the market. I don't have a bag to look at of the Wellness, but if the fish and sweet potato doesn't have a meat as a primary ingredient (first 2 on the label) then don't feed it. Dogs need the protein from meats as a primary source. I'm sure the folks at wellness have made up for any loss in using fish as a primary protein source, but I disagree with that line of thinking...

Also, lamb and rice diets tend to be gentle on the stomach, but it really depends on the secondary ingredients...

I feed my 10 year old Border Collie Wellness-Senior, he has done really well on the diet and he likes it. They use human grade ingredients, which is what I prefer for him. I have not used California Natural, so I really cannot give an opinion on that. Good Luck.

Note: the Fish and Sweet Potatoe diet is used mainly for pets with skin allergies.
