I want to try california rolls but since it has crab in it Im not sure if it's haram or halal.

Sunnis believe all seafood is halal, but Shias don't eat shellfish or fish that doesn't have scales.

I think the crab that they have in California rolls are called surimi and they're artificial crab meat, if I am not mistaken! Check with the restaurant :)

Hmm now I feel like having one myself...

No no no, both of them is haram,not only lobster and crab,squid,scallop,shrimp,oyster and even eel is Not halal

depends on the sect you belong to - if any. I, myself, don't do the sect thing. Been there, done that. The Shi'a say shellfish is haram. I think Sunnis say it's ok - better check it out though. Try islamicity.com for more info.
