Why? Because the heavily armed US Marine is so heaily armed, he can't even move an inch. At least the peasant can throw yams at him.

The difference is that the Vietnamese did not worry about winning a battle, they were out to win a war.
Put that asside,,, I would love to watch a Marine in full battle gear try to keep up with a bunch of Montagnards for more than an hour.

You mean there's going to be a rematch? The marines are still smarting from what those peasants did with the yams.

Neither.
A pirate would take them both down, then a ninja would pop out from under a yam and kick the pirates a55.
Then Chuck Norris would skydive in without a parachute- land in a crouched position, then he'd roundhouse kick the everliving cr@p out of that ninja.

It partly depends who wants to win most.
And further, if you go to Vietnam and see the vietnamese "peasants" moving through the jungle mountains in flip flops in massive humidity you realise (as you stumble in their wake) that however they look they are bloody hard!
