Cats can certainly do better on their own than dogs, but you're still setting up a situation that's unhealthy for the cat. Even if it doesn't seem to like people, the main concern is the water. If it manages to knock over its water bowl or cause some other mishap, it could dehydrate by the time someone comes to check on it.
While leaving a cat unattended (be prepared for your furniture to be clawed a bit when you get back, perhaps) isn't ideal, if it's unavoidable you should make sure someone's checking on it every day. At least every other day, so if you're leaving for five days you'll definitely want someone to visit at least twice while you're gone.
Just my two cents.

Leaving a cat alone is ok, but eventually the cat may become wild and become afraid of you. I would suggest leaving a radio on for the cat while you are gone so the cat will think that there are people in the house. I leave my house thru out the day and I constantly leave my tv on or radio on for them. The food does dry after a couple of days and the water goes stale. So fresh food and water is suggested instead of lots and lots of food and water.

I'd have someone come in every day if possible. Even if she likes to be alone she should be checked on. Cats have a way of getting themselves into things and you want someone to know she hasn't gotten trapped somewhere. Also she really should have fresh water every day. If you're leaving the food for that long it has to be dry food and it's important that she drink water if she's eating dry food. Otherwise she might run into urinary problems and a cat can die from a urinary infection in fewer than 5 days. See if someone can drop in daily, even if it's just for a few minutes.

Maybe take her to a nice clean kennel or the vet . They will take good care of her . You can trust the vet more then the kennel .The vet will also provide food , water , and if there's something wrong with her , they will take care of her and call you ,to tell you what's going on , five days is too long to leave a cat.If you cant pay that , you could hire or ask someone you really trust and check on her each day . To feed her , change her litter box and refill her water bowl. Or maybe hire a pet sitter . They will watch your pet and take good care of it . I'm not being rude , but leaveing a cat more then a day without checking on it , is cruel.

The longest I have left my cats alone without someone coming in to check on them is 2 days. I would suggest that you either have a pet sitter come into the house to look in on them and give them fresh water and food and scoop the cat pans or taken them to a kennel. Pet sitters are not really that expensive and the peace of mind they give you is wonderful. Five days is really too long to leave a single cat alone.

I would say no, it`s not ok. What if she gets sick during the first three days? When I leave my cat alone, someone feeds him and checks on him once every day. If you will leave your cat alone, you should buy one of those feeding bowls what fills up the food or water (especially water) whenever the bowl is empty. You should also have a very big, or several small litter boxes.

Yes -- but be a gracious owner. Leave a tv on for her so she doesn't think she's been banned from the entire world.
Close the bathroom doors to prevent a head first fall into the toilet. Believe it or not, cats have drowned this way.
Also, leave her two litter pans out -- three to be a really great owner.
If you want to make it fun, hide a few treats for her in her favorite places. If going to kennel really upsets her - this is best.
You also want to have a 'rescue my cat in case of fire' sign on a window that a fireman would see just in case.

I don't like to leave my cats alone for more than two days. I'd rather have the pet sitter come every day to check on them and give them fresh food and water.

I think that it is perfectly fine. My Grandparents a cat that they left home for a week I went by to refresh her water and food like every 2 days and she was fine. Just as long as there is someone coming to check on her and she has food, water, and enough kitty litter (whatever you use). Cats are normally perfectly fine without people around for awhile.

You should have someone come and check on your cat every other day. Your cat needs fresh water daily not stale water. Maybe someone can stay at your house while you are gone?
