What are the best kind of maps to buy laminated ones or the big old paper ones. Should I buy a map of my whole state or just a map with certain areas.

Join AAA if you are going to travel alot then the maps are free. I would always get a state map then area maps if I planned on visiting the area. AAA have travel guides for all 50 states, that has recommended hotels, motels and places to visit. It is well worth the $50 or so that the membership costs in the maps you could get for free. Now if you are not close to a AAA office then, you can still get the state maps, and area maps as needed.

Good luck

Laminated maps are great because you can mark your route with dry erase markers.

Paper maps (or the more durable synthetic paper ones) can be folded up if you are driving or hiking.

If you want to display the map on your wall, you can get your map framed or magnetic.

You can find a ton of different maps of every state here:

They also have wall maps of every county and specific areas.

Where are you planning on going or what do you plan on studying?
What are your wear/sturdiness requirements?
What are the maps going to be used for; reference, travel?
What type environment are they going to be used in; office, vehicle, foot travel?
Folding, wall or atlas?
Question is just way too vague.
