Ive heard people describe it as turning SUPER dark, not being able to open your eyes, and feeling paralyzed or like your being held down by someone or something....and having REALLY wierd dreams or visions at the same time? ive heard different speak about incidences where this has happened to them. This is most likely a physiological occurrence. In fact, the word "nightmare" is named after the experience you describe. It was believed that a Night Mare (an old hag of a thing) would come to certain people in the night and press down on their chest and the person would be paralyzed, etc. When you experience a physical thing while asleep, you tend to incorporate that into your dreams. For example, if my nose gets stopped up while asleep, I'll dream that someone is smothering me.

So if something physiological causes you to be paralyzed or feel heaviness in the chest, you are probably going to incorporate that into your dream. So you will dream something like an old Hag coming and holding you down, especially if there is a belief in your society that Old Hags do such things at times to people.

I've heard the phenomenon explained but I would not be able to explain it right. But it's something like when you are asleep you are in a somewhat paralyzed state. This is what keeps you from actually acting out your dreams. If you are in a sort of twilight sleep, perhaps you become aware of this paralysis, and then your dreaming mind comes up with an explanation. So you envision demons, aliens, or an old hag, or whatever to be the cause. It does not at all mean you are crazy or anything. It is strictly physiological.

I have had 2 experiences with sleep paralysis. Once when I was 15 and again when i was about 22. The first time I woke up from napping and I couldn't move. My dog knew there was something wrong and took off running out of the room and then my sis walked in , she thought that I was asleep. I was yelling at her in my head to wake me up and wondering why didn't she think it was weird that I was looking at her and not moving. Then she left the room and then i got really scared when I heard something behind my left shoulder area . I sensed it more that heard it. Any ways I got a little freaked out and said Lord help me and then I was released.

The second time it was pretty much the same way , but this time I heard a voice say something like, I hate you , you fu..ing bit ch and the alot more voices joined in and they all were screaming at me horrible things and there were so many and so loud that I tried to scream in my head and couldn't even hear it. So I started screaming Jesus Jesus Jesus help me!!! and then it just stopped like that . It got so quiet and I just popped up off of the couch so fast I landed in the floor and I was just shaking and bawling. I was terrified.

When my Mom and my baby got back I told my mom about it and she said that it was demons. I already new that. But I just didnt know why they would do that. Hat made me get back in line with the Lord quicker that any preaching sermon ever did. Why would they want to scare the love of christ into me?

Oh well. I am with the lord and I never want to be in that hell ever again.

I don't know if I've ever been attacked by a demon or malevolent spirit but I do suffer from nightmares. I'm at the point in my dreams where I die, I feel excruciating pains in my side. I feel held down at points, unable to move in my dreams but it feels so real. I have been told that some of my dreams might be deaths that already happened to other people and because I am "open-minded" about it, I am able to see it. you can e-mail me and we can chat about it

I've dealt with alot of spirits. No, I've never been attacked in my sleep by one.

What you're describing is called "sleep paralysis". It means you can't move but you're still kind of awake. Most people that are sufferers of that also report some kind of ghost, spirit, or demon in the room with them at the time.

Naaaa....and I don't believe in the devil.

The only time I suffered ANYTHING remotely similar to what you describe is when I would get asthma attacks, around 1, 2 or 3 in the morning.
Turns out the demon causing my attacks was my allergic reaction to my cat.
A very nice cat, I was able to pass her off to my mother-in-law and my attacks stopped.

Now, back to the devil conspiracy...my believe (I'm Jewish) is that ALL evil comes from humans.
For example:
>The situation in Darfur?
>>Evil men killing innocent men, women and children.
>The events of 9/11?
>>Man-made, thanks to evil terrorists.
>The "Axis of Evil"?
>>Saddam, Kim Jong Il and that wacko in Iran...all men.
>The Holocaust?
>>Hitler and his nazi pigmen.

Get my point?
We don't need a scapegoat.
We need to address evil and call it what it is.
Confront it and terminate it, without prejudice.

Its just a bad dream,...because we experience a stress event before on the day time.

This dream and other dream similar( such as visited by aliens..etc)...were actually expression on what u have ,when u a wake,...some extreme dream,..can come from psycological disorder.(or something like self hypnotizing).

Never experienced that. I have experienced evil spirits and have witnessed a couple of possessed individuals. So, I guess it could happen. Good luck.

ive heard of it, but ive never seen it. and im quite skeptical so i highly doubt it has anytihng to do with real demons. im sure its something blown out of purportion to give a little more credibility to the falsness of their teachings. in all reality i believe it has to do with a condition or something much like sleep apnea.

A Christian can be oppressed by Satan or a demon spirit but He or She can never be conquered because of the blood of Jesus Christ and the covering of the Holy Spirit.
