Matthew 7 WEB

1 "Don't judge, so that you won't be judged.

2 For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you.

3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the beam that is in your own eye?

4 Or how will you tell your brother,'Let me remove the speck from your eye;' and behold, the beam is in your own eye?

5 You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye.

Um do they cherry-pick the bible are something?

Why is is so easy to pick on Christians for their beliefs and not others for their non belief? There are hypocrites everywhere, not just in religion. I am sorry that you had a bad experience with one Christian, but as one myself, I get really tired of everyone grouping people into one category based on one experience. I suppose I could go around and make ignorant judgements on every type of people because of one instance, but why not just accept that there are people that really do take the word to heart and practice the living proofs of the Bible?! I can't make everyone else do it, but I know that I live my life according to Christ's teachings.

Notice verse 5. It says get your own life straight, THEN help your brother. For decades the most quoted Bible verse was John 3:16. However, in the past 15-20 years, the most commonly quoted verse has changed to Matthew 7:1. When people change from saying "God so loved you" to "Don't judge me" it was not necessarily a good thing. People are now saying "I can do what I want, keep your hands off of my pet sins." Better yet, instead of saying "Don't judge me", why not adopt 1 Corinthians 10 which says "if something offends another, I will stop doing it".

I'm doing my level best to walk circumspectly. And it's not difficult, actually. All I have to do is remember how Jesus found me polluted in my own blood mixed with the blood of my partners in crimes against Him and how He forgave me for all of it and cleaned me up. When I look back at the cross and see that, and I see how He loved me even when I was His enemy, the sins of others are small by comparison.

As for those who fall into sin on the saved side of the cross, well, all I have to do there is take heed and stand warned not to think that I stand lest I fall. Every time a Christian gets caught in some major sin it should only serve as a reminder that we best walk soberly, vigilantly, and humbly under the mighty hand of our God as the Bible says. The second we think we are beyond falling is the second we lose sight of the Power by which we stand (by the very One who upholds us).

You have to remember there are front row hipocrites in every area of life. If a Christian is following the steps of Jesus we must look at the positives in a person and not the negatives. We are to love the sinner and hate the sin. The problem I have is I can think of someone that is a habitual liar to me and it is difficult to look for the positives in this person. When one loses trust in another person it is very painful and difficult to gain again. If someone plays me for a fool and continues to lie over and over again to a point everything out of their mouth is a lie, then it is very difficult to ignore this "speck".All we can do is try our best.

Exactly what are you accusing us of judging? Because we are allowed to condemn wrong doing, (consider murder, rape, theft, etc...). If you are talking about when we tell someone about how they can know their sins are forgiven and escape eternal damnation as judgmental, well then I guess you don't know a thing about what those verse are saying. They are telling people not to be HYPOCRITES in practicing secret sin in their own life while condemning it in other's lives. (as in the case of this Mr. Haggard who's all over this forum, lately). If we condemn the things GOD says are wrong, that's not being judgmental, that's called standing for the truth....

Some do, some don't. What's your point?

Notice that the passage does not say that all judgment is wrong (as many seem to think); the passage just states that it is wrong to judge someone else before you get your own act together first (I.E.: don't be a hypocrite).

We all fall short of the glory of God. we are human. and not only that, not all that call themselves Christian, are really Christian. It is an easy label to wear. And, also many dont read all of the Bible, and misunderstand it and think its their place to run everyone else. God says its His place. Yet, we are to tell fellow believers when they are in sin, God is clear on this. but to do it in love, or not at all. somehow self gets involved and they miss that. But, all the Bible is necessary to live as He says. But, before you judge them, remember its not your place either, you are doing what they do. Take the own log from your own eye before you attempt to remove the spec from someone elses. Are you living as God says????? Go there first.

Many people do that, not just christians. We have to be wise enough to notice the beam is in our own eye. You'll notice that lot's of people will proclaim Jesus' word, but will themselves not follow it with all their heart and soul. All people have their faults, including you and me. The best thing to do is to teach by example that you judge not your fellow man.

Age old question that has been asked for many things.

All I can tell you is that we are ALL born into sin. We must be forgiven by asking the Lord to allow us to be saved by the savior Jesus Christ.

We all sin, it is part of being human. Do you ever slip? God knows I do...

Additionally, there are those that "say" they are Christian, when they are not. There are two types of Christians, heart and head.

Those who really know Christ, and have truely accepted him as their savior will change and continually seek forgiveness for transgressions.

Those who do not really give their hearts, but instead justify their actions in one way or another simply "think" they are Christians. They have a "head" knowledge of God but are missing the key component of the change that happnes to you when you truely accept Jesus into your heart as your persoanl savior.

Ask your self this quandry:

By asking this question am I in turn judging those whom are judging me?

Are you not a victim of your own judgement?

The answer to it all is: God alone can judge.

This includes those whom judge. Find solice in your seeking knowledge, however, in knowing that God embraces your search for truth.

Good luck, and God bless...

Sad to say but yes they do. They take what parts they want and those are what they tell others. They forget they also must live what they preach. I wish people would speak more about God's love and the wonderful things that He has done. These kind of testimonies are what unbelievers need to hear. Not that they are doomed for hell if they don't straighten up but That God loves them very much and wants them to spend eternity with Him.
