I am currently on my fourth day of not smoking. I'm twenty and have been smoking for six years (awful, I know) ... and while I have found it easierthen I predicted, I have a small problem ...

I seem to be hiddiously constipated! I know it's not exactly a pleasent topic, but when does this bloating and so forth end??

I haven't eaten any more then usial, and I'm vegan so my diet is very high fibre ... any advise from people who have been there would be excellent!!!

Oh and I'm not using any patches or gum ect ... I heard they can give you stomach troubles so I have stayed well clear!

Lost babe lady ...
I have allready decided to give up smoking, you don't need to tell me all that stuff.
My father-in-law is dying of throught cancer, I know it's bad for me hence the quitting.
Also 'looking gay' isn't exactly a good reason to stop either. Sorry, the gay thing just annoyed me.

Hi, I quit smoking six months ago. It was tough. As for the Jack A** who says to just quit because it's bad for you, we both know it's not that easy or everyone would quit. DUH!!! Anyway, I ran across a sight that I found helpful called quitsmokingonline.com it's free and it covers a lot of the myths about quitting smoking. It sort of gave me a fresh outlook on the whole thing. As far as the constipation thing, I never had that problem, I would definately try to drink more water and eat prunes or raisins. Also, more fruit and vegetables in your diet would be good. I wouldn't use a laxative because those are so harsh, but a stool softener could be helpful. If the problem persist, you might contact your physician for a prescription of some reglan just to get things moving again. Good luck with your program of quitting, and don't be afraid to use the tools available to you like patches, gum etc. I used them and had really good luck. Don't let anyone pressure you. You can do this, just take it one day at a time or one hour at time, or one cigarette at time. I promise you will be glad that you made the choice to quit. Good Luck!

I can't say I had this problem when I quit smoking but there are 2 solutions to assist with this. Be sure you're drinking a lot of water and then go buy you some dried prunes. Eat 3 and you're good to go! I keep mine in the fridge and believe it or not, when they're cold they actually taste GOOD! Tastes like plums and not a slimy texture the way they are when they're warm.

YAY FOR QUITTING! I used SmokeAway, herbal program, so maybe that's why I didn't have constipation......

I would suggest to drink a lot of water, but also if you can, drink a couple of glasses of milk each day. On me when I drink milk it works like a laxative and I am not constipated. You can also check with your doctor for some meds that will help you from being constipated, like stool softners. Those work real good.

Just think what smoking is doing to you. It's destroying your lungs, how long have you been smoking? My uncle died from smoking. My mom used to smoke, and she knew how unhealthy it is, and how gross it s, so one day she just compoleyly threw out all of her ciggarettes. Just don't think about then. I know it may be hard, i never smoked in my life, but you HAVE to stop. 4 days is pretty good!

Just seriously think what its doing to you. Everytime you have a cigarette, your gonna smell like crap. Nobody's gonna wanna hang out with you cause ALLL your close smell horrible. Nobodys gonna wanna kiss you, cause thats discusting kissing a smoker. You not "Cool" when you smoke, your acutally stupid. Nobody likes smokers. Anyone who is convincing you to smoke, you should just punch them in the effin face.

Dont let other people control your life...I know i may sound mean in this, but im not mean at all, i just want you to realize how gay you look when you smoke, and how shitty you smell afterwards. Its horrible to smoke, and its GREATTT that your trying to smoke

Have you tried drinking more water. It will not only loosen your stool but will also help flush your system. Stay away from sodas.
