I was home alone with my 2 year old who was sitting next to me, when the phone rang. I answered it and was talking when it sounded like someone picked it up and started to dial, it stopped and I con't the conversation and hung up. Only the phone would not connect to a dial tone and the screen on the phone said line 2 (phone 2) in use. NO one is home but me and Jack so I went to look for the other phone and I found it and it was in the talk position. No one has been in the room for hours and the phone worked up until that call. Can anyone explain this to me? Is this supernatural or an electrical problem? Any ideas?

How does this fit: Your other phone, the one found in "talk position" wasn't hung up properly after the last use. Maybe it has a circuit that releases the line to save battery life if it detects no activity or hears the BEEP BEEP BEEP tone of a phone left off hook. Read the book. With the line released, you are able to accept incoming calls, which you did. Someone on the callers side was messing around with their extension, trying to make a call, realized the phone was in use and hung up. Your "other" phone now detects activity and since it is in the talk position, reconnects. You hang up and go find the other phone and find it in the "talk" position, and finally hang up properly this time. Easy.

It sounds like your son playing with the phone, my grandaughter would pick up the phone and have a long conversation with no one at all, only her imagination when she was 2yrs old. She would have us falling about with disbelief and laughter, she was that convinsing, plus my daughter had to pay for calls my grandaughter had made when she had been play dialing and not been seen.

sounds pretty freaky, my mother had a thing happen to her surround sound where it would turn up by it self and turn down. i didnt beleive it untill i saw it for myself. We put tape on the volume knob and it stopped. I beleive it was a ghost. I think that you should put the phone it the same room and try and re-create the experiance to see if anything significant happens... it could of been a electrical problem so cunducting this type of test will confirm what it is... i would love to know what happend so if you wanna email me thats cool!!! good luck ; )

someone or something had to use that phone..
electricity will not put it in the talk position..
Im not so sure I would want to be home alone right now if I were you..

dodgy connection... just like in 1984, when i phoned my friend 3 miles away, and got him and his cousin in next town all on the line at the same time, yet all of us in separate houses... i checked seconds after, by ringing all the houses and got each one at home... strange....

probably its nothing a line problem........but maybe it is a phone call from the dead.......this is a real phenomenon i looked it up once on the Internet apparently it really does happen look it up....pretty spooky.
