they really don't taste better if they've got the same filling but the concept here is that triangular sarnies, are easier to bite and eat. and they look pleasing to the eye as well.
the edge of the triangle is easier to bite and get in your mouth cos of it's pointedness, unlike the square sandwich where you don't have a clue where to start biting. with the triangular shape you have a merged point which can be put in your mouth easily. and that;s why we all eat triangular sandwiches starting from the point and not the middle. :)

lots of the enjoyment of food is the perception that goes along with the taste...
many people will choose old favorites, comfort foods; or prettier foods over better tasting foods.

did mommy cut your sandwich in a triangle.. or straight across or not at all,or remove the crusts,or make shaped ones with cookie cutters? whichever , that's what likely 'tastes" better to you.

Because squares are used in construction and have nothing to do with food. Whereas triangles are typically used for the "dinner bell" ya know, so they are associated with food because it is a better tasting shape. Hope that helps.

The triangles taste better because the shape encourages you to take smaller bites which use your taste buds more efficiently

I really hadn't thought about this, before. But now you mention it, they really DO taste better. But I don't know why. Maybe because yo get to the filling quickly, or you eat two, instead of one.

OMG...you're right! Perhaps it's psychological, it takes you back to when you were a carefree child. All mum's cut sandwiches into triangles didn't they?!

its all in your head - they taste the same you just like them better because they are in a triangle shape (umm...like a slice of pizza)

same reason ppl by mini 8oz bottles of coke instead of a 20oz, they taste the same but one is cuter so you buy it.

The way they look makes them more appealing so you think they taste better.
