Anything is normal when you don't have. I think Alicia Keys was referring to "government food" when she said that in the song. Some of us only had the free food they supplied for us to eat.

Powdered Milk
Beans
Rice
Honey instead of sugar

How about it being good for anyone anywhere and any time?
Do you know how many vitamins are in honey, as well as it being a natural anti-septic that is digestible? Rice is very good for your filtering organs, too.
I'm afraid I don't understand the point you're trying to get at with poor people, they eat lots of things. Then they become rich after working hard, and what was once cheap and affordable that they got in the habit of eating becomes fashionable and suddenly expensive.
Like Roe(fish eggs). Or salmon on cream cheese. (lox and bagels) The list goes on.

Main food consumed is rice, sugar, honey, wheat, roots and tubers, oil and fat.
In the United States rice and honey are not considered poor people diet.

Rice. BACON AND EGG FRIED RICE 1 1/2 C. Water 1 C. Rice 6 Pieces bacon 3 or 4 Eggs Garlic powder Salt and pepper to taste Chopped onion 2 T. Tomato sauce. 1 T. soy sauce Bring water to a boil and add rice. Cook for 30 minutes. While rice is cooking, fry bacon. Save 1/2 of grease. Scramble eggs in bowl, add garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste. Add 2 tablespoons water to eggs and mix well. Fry egg mixture like a pancake. Fry rice, add chopped onion, chopped bacon and catsup. Cut up egg omelette and add rice. Stir in soy sauce. Serve hot. Add hot sauce, if desired. You could use chicken, beef, pork or seafood, depending upon what you have.

for really poor people, they don't even have honey, just rice. and the rice is dirty and comes in small portions (Asia)

I dont know of any one that would eat that as a meal. However, normal for one isnt always normal for another.
I bet its tasty.

i agree with jam_please...this is a very pointless question.
what do you know about poor people...that they eat rice with honey?? while you throw food away, after stuffing your face?
