Bartending while you are in school is a great idea. I did it all the way through school and I loved it. The money is great too. I would not recommend schooling for it. You should be able to get a job where they train you. Especially as you have waitressing experiencing. It shows that you can handle the restaurant industry, and specifically dealing with the public. I would recommend that you pick up a book on bartending, or even look on-line, so that you know how to make basic drinks.
As for what to wear, I don't think it matters that much. You want to look decent, and it may help to dress a Little sexy if the person hiring is a man, but be careful with that if it's a woman. Good luck. By the way, I live about 1 1/2 hours form you!!

RE: Could I get a bartending process with out a bartending revel in? I haven't any bartending revel in, however I labored as a waitress for a million yr and I recognise the wines (what wine might pass with what entree) and I understand how to pour a lager. I simply don't recognise fairly how you can make all of the cocktails. Do I have a threat at getting a aspect time bartending process at like an...

Well, I use to be a bartender and got into it from working as a server, but unless you have been working there for a while and you move up, it is hard to get a job as a bartender just coming in off the street. And most clubs want experience. And yes school is a rip off, don't go. You can learn the same thing if you get a book from the library. I would say, go to some of the local clubs and talk to the bartenders there and see what happens, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

School isn't a rip off. If you do not go, at the very least buy a book or two from the bookstore, because there is quite a bit you will be expected to know without having to look up drink recipes every time someone places an order.
Good luck! It is fun, easy money. The only drawback at all is it is too smoky.

I WAS A BARTENDER/MANAGER FOR OVER 20 YEARS, SO I WOULD SAY I CAN ANSWER THIS FOR YOU.
FIRST OF ALL, LOOKS AND CONFIDENCE ARE KEY,YOU MUST LIKE THE PUBLIC AND SMILE ALOT,LOOK FOR A PLACE THAT WOULD BE WILLING TO TRAIN YOU ON MAKING DRINKS AND BUY A BARTENDER GUIDE BOOK TO HELP YOU WITH THE DRINKS.YOU WILL HAVE TO GET A BARTENDERS LICENSE WHICH IS ALL ABOUT THE LAWS, NOT THE DRINKS, THROUGH THE PLACE THAT HIRES YOU, I SUPPORTED A CHILD ON MY OWN AND BOUGHT MY FIRST HOUSE AT 24 YEARS OLD BECAUSE OF BARTENDING, I SUGGEST BARTENDING FOR EVERYONE, IT WILL TEACH YOU MANY THINGS THAT YOU WILL TAKE WITH YOU ON YOUR JOURNEY IN LIFE, BUT DO NOT MAKE A CAREER OUT OF IT, GO TO SCHOOL GET A JOB WITH NORMAL HOURS SO YOU HAVE A CHANCE AT A NORMAL LIFE!! GOOD LUCK!!! DRESS CLASSY, BE NICE, AND REMEMBER WHAT PEOPLE DRINK!!!

I dont think school is a rip off at all. My friends (nevena and katrina) went to bartending school for a week, cost $400 and they are now both bartenders....remember it takes more than looking cute; you have to know what goes in the drinks. If someone comes to the bar and asks for a screw driver, or sex on the beach, or cosmopolitan, or fuzzy navel, or harvey wallbanger or a hairy buffalow... you have to know what the drink consists of and how much of each ingredient to use so that the drink tastes right. Good luck

One thing you'll probably need (I think all states require it) is to get an "alcohol servers license"...or whatever else they might call it where you live. A working bar tender can give you the details. Then, there are schools that teach bar tending; probably some do it by home-study. You need to know all that stuff like what is the exact composition of a bloody Mary, white Russian, Harvey wallbanger, etc, as well as things like, do you add to booze first, do you trickle it down the side, or shake everything up, etc, etc.

You should also take a course in bartending. It is a short course. It doesn't hurt to have it.
School isn't a rip off. It looks good on your resume and it gives you the time to research of what you want to do.

Dive bars (regulars and working class) are usually willing to take a nice looking girl without much experience.
I worked in one for awhile til I got a better job when I had experience...The money was pretty good alot better than I thought it would be!
