It drives me insane, especially when I go out of my way not to use my mobile phone when I am out with others. But I'm not sure...maybe it is not considered rude to do anymore, just because everyone has a mobile phone now a days?

i think it is rude THE ONLY time ill take the call is if it is from the babysitter that I have left my son with, then I excuse myself from the table or where ever and take the call, if im in a restaurant or movies its always on vibrate so not to bother others, if someone else is calling i let it go to voicemail and check it later

Unless the person is a doctor that happens to be on call, I think that it is very rude to talk to someone on the phone when you are out with a friend. I put my phone on vibrate so it doesn't even ring when I am out with a friend. Then when I have a moment I will look to see who may have called. I also think some one endlessly texting when they are out with a friend is also rude and annoying

I don't think it's rude to answer the phone. It is if you allow the phone call to go on for a prolonged period of time. When I go out with my friends and make calls it is probably to another friend that is not with us.

I think when you have made plans with someone you should not take calls and continue to talk when you find out it is not an emergency. Yes, it is very rude to hold a conversation on the cell phone when you are out with someone. God bless

I think it is rude. I answer my phone calls but always find out if it's extremely important otherwise I would call them back. My friend does that and it annoys the crap out of me. I hung out with her last time and I haven't seen in her months and the whole car ride she was on the phone talking to her friend.

No. It is rude when they sit on the phone and talk for awhile. They should say to the person on the phone "I'll call you back"

I find this super annoying. I am giving my friends, my undivided attention. But of course they pick up the phone. Then they try to talk to you and the person on the phone. GRRRR!!!! When did cell phones become part of our bodies?? Turn it off!! Thats what voicemail is for people!!

It is rude if the person your with takes a call and it last more than a minute or so. that person should tell the person that's called that they will call them back when they have more time.

I think it is rude, but like everything else, people seem to have completely lost their good manners.

Unfortunately, we live in an increasingly self-centered society.
