There is no definite period of time. It is completely up to you and your feelings. Start as soon as possible, but do not become involved in anything serious until after you have given the new relationship some time to develop. You must be honest with anyone you start dating more frequently, so they are not hurt as badly should you be on a rebound. The key is to have fun and not hurt others. Getting over breakups always takes time, but you should get out there and date as soon as you want to.

Until your heart is healed from your last relationship and when you'r ready to move on...If you move into another relationship too quickly then you will bring over the same issues from the last relationship. Give it time and work on yourself...I'm not talking about being selfish but develop in the areas where you lack. So that you will be prepared for your next relationship.

As long as you need to get over someone, if the grievence period means dating someone else, then maybe that is best. It is all based on preference. Take your time, this is not a race.
