The bible teaches that the archangel Michael is the heavenly pre- and post-human Jesus.

Note that Jesus the Lord calls with an archangel's voice:
. (1 Thessalonians 4:14-16) Jesus died and rose again, so, too... the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel's voice

Note who leads angelic armies (Jesus is "Logos", "The Word"):
. (Revelation 19:13-14) the name he is called is The Word of God. Also, the armies that were in heaven were following him

. (Revelation 12:7) And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels battled

Who returns and stands up during a time of distress such as has never happened before?

. (Daniel 12:1) "And during that time Michael will stand up, the great prince who is standing in behalf of the sons of your people. And there will certainly occur a time of distress such as has not been made to occur since there came to be a nation until that time. And during that time your people will escape, every one who is found written down in the book.

. (Matthew 24:3-21) the disciples approached him [Jesus] privately, saying: "Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?" And in answer Jesus said to them: "...All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress. ...But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. ...for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world's beginning until now, no, nor will occur again.

Once you study it, the bible really teaches that Jesus is Michael. The bible speaks of only one archangel, and who would be above Jesus among heavenly creatures?

This is not a difficult subject to research. Why do people insist on stating their opinion instead of going to the source of knowledge, the Bible? In this case, it only takes two texts to find out who Michael is.

1 Thessalonians 4:16
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

John 5:25
Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live

Who raises the dead? The voice of the archangel which is also the voice of the Son of God. Therefore, because we know that Michael is the only archangel mentioned in scripture, Michael must be Christ. Arch in this instance means "over" the angels. Is it any wonder that Jesus is called the "Captain of the hosts of heaven"?He is also the "Prince" who stands for His people. This belief that Michael the Archangel is Christ does not in any way take away from the diety of Christ. Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Of course it is He that raised the dead.

JWs believe Jesus is Micheal because it is said in Genesis 3:15 that God's seed would bruise Satan in the head. That is what Micheal does starting with Revelation 12;7 where Michael is spoken as having angels ans warring with and defeating Satan ( Please compare Matthew 25:31.); ending with Rev 20:3 and 10. Also at 2 Thessalonians 1:7 Jesus is again spoken of a coming with his angels and at 1 Thessalonians 4:16 it speaks of Jesus coming with an archangel's voice. ( Please compare Matthew 24:31) To the best of my knowledge that is way they conclude that Michael is Jesus.

Michael is the angel that stands guard over the nation of Israel. I'm not 100% sure about JW beliefs but I have a feeling that they believe that Jesus was Michael because of all of the references in the OT to the "angel of the Lord". If you do a study on "angel of the lord" or "angel of god" you may notice some similarities between Jesus and some of the things this angel says and does. There is definitely something special about this angel and he is referred to a couple of times as Yhwh. I believe the majority opinion is that the "angel of the lord" is Michael so therefore if the angel is Jesus and the angel is Michael then Michael must have incarnated as Jesus. Just my opinion, I may be totally wrong but it is a very interesting study.

The spirit creature called Michael is not mentioned often in the Bible. However, when he is referred to, he is in action. In the book of Daniel, Michael is battling wicked angels; in the letter of Jude, he is disputing with Satan; and in Revelation, he is waging war with the Devil and his demons. By defending Jehovah's rulership and fighting God's enemies, Michael lives up to the meaning of his name, “Who Is Like God?” But who is Michael?

At times, individuals are known by more than one name. For example, the partiarch Jacob is also known as Israel, and the apostle Peter, as Simon. Likewise, the Bible indicates that Michael is another name for Jesus Christ, before and after his life on earth. So let's consider Scriptural reasons for drawing that conclusion.

God's Word refers to Michael “the archangel.” (Jude 9) This term means “chief angel.” Notice that Michael is called “the” archangel. This suggests that there is only one such angel. In fact, the term “archangel” occurs in the Bible only in the singular, never in the plural. Moreover, Jesus is linked with the office of archangel. Regarding the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ, 1 Thess. 4:16 states: “The Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel's voice.” Thus the voice of Jesus is described as being that of an archangel. This scripture therefore suggests that Jesus himself is the archangel Michael.

The Bible states that “Michael and (his) angels battled with the dragon, and its angels.” (Rev. 12:7) So then, Michael is the Leader of an army of faithful angels. Revelation also describes Jusus as the Leader of an army of faithful angels. (Rev. 19:14-16) And the apostle Paul specifically mentions “the Lord Jesus” and “his powerful angels.” (2 Thess. 1:7; Matt. 16:27) So the Bible speaks of both Michael and “his angels” and Jesus and “his angels.” (Matt. 13:41) Since God's Word nowhere indicates that there are two armies of faithful angels in heaven, one headed by Michael and one headed by Jesus, it is logical to conclude that Michael is none other than Jesus Christ in his heavenly role.

Archangel Michael is God's first-born in Heaven and is THE one who was with God before the earth was and came to be called God's Master Worker and so proved to be the one that God approved of and was sent to earth by God, Yahweh, to be born of a woman--study the Bible and find out for yourselves.

Michael is the guardian angel of Israel. He is a powerful angel and fought against Lucifer in the uprising. I have no idea why the JWs think he is Jesus.
