My kids are older- 14 and 15- girl and boy. I ve been dating a man for a couple of months. I have no intention of them meeting anytime soon, but just though how long schould i wait. I am thinking a couple of yrs. am I wrong? I am falling in love and he is very patient. He is willing to wait and is totatly understandable. My kids have no idea I am dating him as of yet. But I think they have an idea...My ex doesnt even know. I am even afraid to let him know.. I need advise

I think you should have told them as soon as you went out on a first date. Kids, especially, teens, are not stupid. Just like you want them to be honest and upfront with you, you should do the same for them. It is none of their business what you do with him, but they do need to know. How would you feel and react of your daughter was dating some guy for 3 years and never told you? Tell, your ex, too, he needs to know who is will be involved with his children.

I am single mother of 14 y son, 17 y daughter. I started dating a man recently and introduced my kids to him only one week after. My son made the comment to me that I should have told them BEFORE I dated him! Go figure!

That seems long.
My current girlfriend and I went about 4 months after meeting. I never stayed the night but interacted with them (5,7 at the time) Slowly our relationship became more serious and about 8 months later she moved in. We kind of discussed it with them but at that age I don't think they fully understood.
Older kids may take to it faster, plus you can actually talk to your kids and get a somewhat intelligent answer. Ask them...

4 years is good. then both kids are 18 and out of the house in college, so you're free to do what you please. why add drama to the kid's lives when they're just trying to finish high school and start a life?

i would have already done it cause you are setting an example to them they learn from you do you want them to have a boyfriend and not tell you about it that and i think that they would be proud of you cause you are moving on in life
