It is against the law when people try to avoid reporting their income and not paying taxes as they should. And don't say as you supposedly do. It is a fact that there are undocumented workers who get paid under the table.

Off The Books (Under The Table) Is Against The Law

You Must Declare Your Income And Be Taxed Accordingly

Yes, it is illegal for any one to work in the United States without reporting your income to the Internal Revenue Service and paying the amount of income tax due. It is called tax evasion. If you have earned more than $400.00 for the tax year 2005 you have to file a return. The link below is to the internal revenue service- it'll tell you all about Federal income tax
P.S. What is an undocumented worker? Is that the same as an illegal alien?

Absolutely! If you do not file your earnings with the IRS, you are
breaking the law. Any U. S. citizen is required to pay their taxes on their income unless exempt for some reason. Illegal aliens who work under the table are robbing some legal immigrant who is following the law.

It's against the Law NOT TO PAY YOUR TAXES!!!

The illegal aliens standing outside of the Home Depot aren't giving part of their cash to Uncle Sam. Unless, that's the name of the owner of the Flop house they live in!

Paying Taxes is something, I'm sure the illegal aliens know nothing about!

There's NO Such thing as an undocumented worker!

There is only "LEGAL immigrant" or "illegal alien"!

I don't understand what's so bad about working legally. Maybe you won't make as much money, but you do an honest day's work for an honest day's pay...I attended Lutheran church when I was a kid, and you know the 10 commandments thing...'thou shalt not steal' is a good principle to carry forward in life, I think...
'under the table' implies you're being dishonest, and so is whoever you're working for. Screw that. There's plenty of honest jobs out there, what people gotta do is apply for em.

it is against the law but I know many people do that for extra money. The point is there is nobody perfect. Only small minded keep spreading the voice all over the internet that this is against the law, that is against the law. But in reality who right and wrong are depend to the situation, value, case and law are to use to find justice.

It's illegal for anyone in the U.S. to work and not pay taxes.

You mention "supposedly" does that mean you don't think it's happening. Illegals make up the largest portion of non tax paying workers in the U.S.

You should thank people like me, who struggle to put food on the table, and pay taxes, so illegals can have health care, food stamps, subsidies, etc. and pay no tax.

Yep, it's against the law for employers to pay anyone "under the table", and it's against the law for anyone to receive payment "under the table". The same law applies to everyone, U.S. citizens, legal immigrants and illegal immigrants.

In the case of illegal immigrants, it of course compounds the felony, since they have already broken our immigration laws by being here illegally ...
