When I start the car it will sometimes just die and other times it will just crank. The guys at NIssan will not help because they say they cannot do anything because the check engine light isn't on anymore. It came on when the problem started but only for like a day. By the time I got it to Nissan it was off and they said the code wasn't stored. It is a 03 xe.

Year model and how many miles it has and what engine size that 2000/ 2006 Nissan sentra 1.8 or 2.5 liter. Or 2.5 to 3.5 Nissan Altima 3.5 Maxima. The only cars that currently have crank no start problems are sentras and altimas.

Your question isn't really clear. But if the car cranks, the starter should be ok. Have an independent mechanic that is not bias to inspect it. It could be a fuel or electrical problem. After that, take the report to the dealer and find out if it is still under warranty. For some odd reason, the dealer can never find a problem that is under warranty until it expires. Funny.....

Not likely a starter if the engine cranks but won't start. With a bad starter the motor will not crank. You did not state what year of Nissan... could be a fuel pump problem if it is fuel injected. Not enough fuel pressure or a plugged filter can do that. OR if there is no spark that is another issue. Need to find out if it has fuel or spark to diagnose.
