I was probably a few months along before I bought things for my 2 children. But the bigger items not until I got further along like 7-8 months. I have never had a problem so I think its fine to buy things for your unborn child at any time that you want. I always started with the onesies and sleepers and receiving blankets as well as bottles and such. I did always keep the receipts though.

I have three boys. The first two pregnancies were normal, and no issues. I miscarried my third pregnancy at 7 weeks. So when I got pregnant with my last baby, I waited until after the 3 month mark to shop.
I don't think it will hurt anything to go buy an outfit here and there though. I think with this last baby, I was about 7 months along before we started buying the big things. I didn't want a nursery full of baby things too early...I was afraid I was get too impatient waiting.
Congrats!

It is a Jewish tradition not to buy anything until the baby has arrived safely.
You can always put things on delayed delivery or keep things at a relatives house.
I didn't have anything in the house until my kids were born.
