Why do people have feelings that they shouldn't go to church? I think it's in your minds that their is negative stuff there. I got to Church to Fellowship with other believers and to show the Lord that I care about his commands and his words.

I am not talking about a Catholic Church and a priest I am talking about a true Church that teaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I'm not afraid, I just find organized worship causes more problems than it solves. The worship becomes secondary to the politics, and often people become misguided in their interpretations of the bible by churchs and bible study groups.

After reading your comments about the Catholic Church, maybe people are afraid to go to church because they meet ignorant and uninformed people like you there.

If you really want to show the Lord that you care about his commands and words, do a little reading and understand what people believe instead of just taking someone else's word for it.

It is not necessarily people being afraid to go to church, some people don't believe in God and don't go, Some people believe that you don't have to go to church to worship God, and some people don't want to go to church and sit among hypocrits, not that all churches have them but once a person as been looked down on in church they tend to stay away from them before they have unchristian thoughts on what they could say the the hypocrit who thinks they are better than you. By the way I believe in God and I worship in my home with family and friends. Don't want to be mistaken for an Atheist or Satanist.

I've heard it said (by some people) that they believe (as the bible says) that God is everywhere, and that if then he is everywhere that they could pray from home and that God will still hear them.

The first mass, as it is said in our church, was at the last supper...but the last supper was not held in a church.

Churches in general insist that people congregate so that they can get religious instruction and hang around with people that are like them so that staying within the bounds of the religion and what it teaches would be easier for the congregants in their own lives and to live their own lives. (i.e. as a saying goes "birds of a feather stick together.")

The only time I've ever heard any one refer to anything like "being afraid" of church was my friend's story when he was a boy. Alone in a private room, a priest had told him a vivid story of sinners burning in hell for all eternity & he was one of them. Demons, torture, pain. Try to imagine how a small child raised as a Baptist until 6 or so would react to this!

I think most people just don't care for "church" as the norm. People "preaching" to you ( not just the preacher). It makes them feel uncomfortable.

Not everyone progresses in the same way. Theology is not on the top of some peoples priorities. I think everybody some day will get there. You know it's more important to go out and be Christ like amongst men then it is to dwell in the house of the Lord, if you do not intend on behaving likewise once you step out of the door, be careful.
God bless us all...

I believe that people are not going to church because they feel that they are not suitable to present themselves before god and being in church makes them feel like sinners. the church should let people know that god loves them as is but their lives will be a lot more bearable without all of the sinning

Theres nothing scary about church. Its just a fear of the unknown. Alot of people think Christians will identify a pagan and immediately pressure them to praise, convert, or whatever. Its a shame. Some churches just go about it all wrong. It freaks people out and they never return. I can't blame them.

because the bible doesnt say you HAVE to. bible talks about fellowship with other christians, you dont have to go to church to have that. churches are corrupt. it is far better biblically to go out and give my money to someone who needs it rather then to the church. god does not need money.

Matthew 6:5
[ Prayer ] "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.

I'm not scared to go to church, it just doesn't do anything for me. I think it's great that other people get something out of it, but it's not for me. I know that God is everywhere, not just at church. "Split a piece of wood and you will find me. Lift a rock and I am there."
