Looking at many law enforcement programs and shows on television and observing officers in my own town, They use the worse language I have ever heard, I would be charged with dis-oderly conduct if I publicly used the same language.

Those are the kind of cops that give all police officers a bad name. It's very unprofessional to use four-letter words (it's one thing if you slip once in a while, but if every sentence out of your mouth is BLEEP this and BLEEP that and what the BLEEP, that's a different BLEEPin' story).

oh good gosh folks.....why is it so shocking to see that a law enforcement official is using profanity. I guess you can use your personal observations as a tool to judge by, but TV is biased and they use the clips and parts of the show they want to, (that is the reality based shows) the other ones are paid actors (not really happening). So what if they cuss. When they deal with people that use that language then they can be my guest and use it all they want. I do not think that you would see one using the F bomb when they are dealing with a 'routine' traffic violation per say. If they do that in that situation then yes they are wrong in doing so.

T.V is very far from reality. Everybody swears and uses profanity, the question is when should you use it. When you are at work you have to be professional, so I would say that swearing in public at work is a bad thing. If you swear among friends then go for it but watch your audience so you do not offend any passers by. If you swear in public you will not get charged with disorderly conduct but if you are told to be quiet by a police officer and you tell him/her to "f" off or you will F-ing kill them then yes you will be charged with something (officer discretion)

TV and movies are just that...

In real life Police officers are people too. If people use bad language at the police they at some point will use it back. Put it into context, can they order food when out to eat with out dropping the f-bomb or are they using to to break up a bar fight.

It is unprofessional and should not happen.

I agree that it is unprofessional, but look at the type of people that police deal with on a regular basis. Some of the people that I've run into on the street look like I'm speaking Chinese when I talk to them using language that would be appropriate in front of my mother. Crude language is just all that some people understand.

Don't be afraid to let it out. Dumb questions deserve harsh answers. If you are to come back with a line of attack be sure to be open for a come back. Everybody uses some form of profanity and last time I went into public I may have used it and wasn't arressted.

They are just ordinary people like the rest of us, the only difference is that they wear badges and guns.

You're so full of it! You know damn well that you can't be charged for that in America, unless you are threating someone with your words!
