Hi- My 18 month old daughter will not sleep past 5am. I have tried putting her to bed later, but it doesnt work. She wakes up at almost exactly 5am every morning! She is sleeping through the night.

be glad she is sleeping thru the night! Her body clock is set for 5 am. Probably won't change for awhile. When she gets more active than she already is, she will start to sleep later.
My kids would play for awhile after awakening. (2out of 3 anyway!) They entertained themselves with a book or toy. Even when they were out of the crib.

Seperation stress. attempt putting her to sleep an hour or so later than customary, she could stay greater sleeping until eventually 5 or 6, perhaps a greater managable time for you. She could be dealing with a improve spurt, and waking up somewhat hungry. ALL my youngsters went by using this quicker or later, between 6 months and 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. ALL my youngsters have slept in out mattress in the process the tough cases, and via 18 months, they have been all back of their own beds, snoozing in the process the night.

If you put her to bed later, she may well wake up at 5am for a few days (it's just like adults - even if you stay up late on weekends, you still might pop awake when your alarm would have gone off). You may have to try it for a week to see if it helps.

Try putting her to bed earlier. Sounds nuts, but I've known it to work. If she seems cranky or tired during the day, maybe she needs MORE sleep, not less.

Make sure her room is dark, except for anight light, and use white noise--a fan or very soft music or something. Also, if you find she just wakes up then and that's all there is to it, you can put some toys and books in the crib AFTER she falls asleep at night, for her to find in the morning. She will entertain herself for a while and you may get an extra hour's sleep.

Try later bedtimes, less nap during the day, a nice bath at night, and a room darkening shade so she can't see the sunlight, if you have any sun! :) Also, I have a water ocean scene thing (Fisher Price??) that hangs on my daughter's crib (19 months) and she turns that on every time she wakes up and goes right back to sleep.

Good luck!

What time does she go to bed? You could always try to keep her up later...beware however, we all know what an overtired toddler looks like. You can also try waking her up earlier from her nap. I know it's not what you want to hear, but be thankful she is sleeping through the night, my daughter is 20 mos and still not sleeping through the night, oi!

You may be the "lucky" parent of an early bird....my daughter has been waking up at 6:00am since she was a baby...she is now 4. Doesn't matter what time she falls asleep. I adapted, thoroughly baby proofing my bedroom and letting her play or watch tv while I snooze for a little longer. Don't worry I am totally aware of what she is doing (I'm only dozing).

Do she have a long day?? Such as playgroups with friends, going to the park and long car rides that should get her to sleep long during the day. If it don't cut out on some naps during the day..Let nap time be reading time or playtime.
