I feel it's a bad thing, but on the other hand, how will it truly effect you if you hang out in a room and smoke all day, just once.?

so far im getting really good, well thought out, mature and sincere answers =)
and i just wanted to say that im not going to pick a best answer because i dont want to subconciously be biased towards the answer that i hope would make my friend (the reason im asking the question, but thanks for your concern) get turned off from the idea of it. so i'll leave it up to a vote. thanks so much tho =)

It really is not bad for you. The first time you smoke you will not actually have a real reaction, you might get a little hyper but you will be just yourself. The second time it will affect. Beside sthe fact that it is illegal i see no real harm, in just trying it. Aslong as you are in a safe place with people you trust, you should be o.k!

The main health concern about "just trying it once" is the risk that it might be laced with another drug, which could be potentially fatal. Trying something for the first time and "Smoke all day" also sounds very concerning.
Trying drugs is a bad decision regardless. Even with the "just once" scenario.. I don't think anyone tried a drug saying "hey.. I'll become an addict". It started with curiousity. Yes, many people use pot and don't have their lives thrown into ruin. However, for others.. pot was the beginning of addictions that have destroyed their lives.

Many people say there really is no harm in trying marijuana, other than the fact that it's illegal. The problem is the active ingredient in marijuana (tetra-hydro-cannabinol) is such a complex drug that scientists really can't isolate what all the effects of smoking pot are.
I can tell you what happened the one time I smoked it and the results afterward: It gave me a buzz similar to alcohol but hard to describe, it gave me cotton-mouth, it made my eyes bloodshot, it made me pretty paranoid, and it gave me the munchies. Doesn't sound too bad, right? Here's the kicker: One joint affected my memory. No lie. I used to have an almost razor-sharp photographic memory, but after that one joint I found it hard to remember certain things, no matter how hard I concentrated. The damage was permanent -- to this day I still have problems remembering certain things.
Do yourself a favor: Don't try it. You're not missing anything except something that can ruin your body and your life in more ways than one.

#1 It's illegal for a reason
#2 People don't just try it once. They keep doing it over and over and before they know it, they are hooked.
If you smoke all day--you will be addicted to it. Why would you want to do that? Give me one good reason that you SHOULD try it?

It's not a bad thing whether you try it once or use it once in a while...It IS however, a gateway narcotic. I'm telling you this from personal experience. Had I not tried pot, I would not have tried cocaine, LSD, mushrooms, various amphetamines or barbiturates. The only thing I haven't tried was heroin and that's only because I hate needles! Just be careful.

I also tried it once - & enjoyed it so much I eventually became addicted to crack. Lost everything in the world. Cigs, alcohol, other drugs all can take hold of a person & twist their lives around. Stay away from all these things as well as those people using them. Take it from me, it's the wrong street.

There's no harm in trying it just once. There's no harm in doing in once in a while. If you want to try it...giver. I used to smoke and it helped relieve a lot of stress. I don't smoke anymore and have now found other ways to get that stress out.

I would equate it with sex. A virgin has never had sex and if you ask her she will truthfully answer no. If you ask someone who smoked pot once if he had ever used drugs to be truthful he must answer yes. Is it worth it?

You might get hooked to it later on. Or your friends can use your first time to make you addict
