All you need is a power filter (inductive type). It gets wired between the radio and battery (fuse block).

Sparkplug wires and sparkplugs. Make sure the plugs are the original factory spec. Something like S-45X ... the X plugs might have been replaced with plain old S-45 and the X was for electrical interference. Same goes on the wires. See if you've got Delco printed on the wires. Make sure your antenna wire is fully seated in the side of the radio. Last resort, get the static filter at Radio Shack that goes on the coil wire. It will give you problems in rainstorms. But, the noise the coil makes is usually a whine that increases with the engine RPM. You're talking static while its running.
I had similar problems but it was because of a custom tape deck installation with a power amp.

the static is coming from your secoundary ignition system, cap, rotor, wires,or plugs. All of these need to be of the resistance type. Resistor plugs, as well as wires, something of a carbon core, nothing with a metal core. Than go to a N A P A store and pick up a tube of silicon dielectric it should be Echlin ML2 and put a dab on all dist cap contacts as well as tips of plugs they also sell a radio filter part # RC10 that should also help

First; You have to determin what kind of noise it is. There are two primary sources of noise; Alternator; ignition; With alt. noise, you`ll hear a kind of whine which changes in pitch as the rpm.s change. A noise filter can be purchased at any good auto parts store, or car audio supplier. There might be one on your alt. allready, so replace it. If not; Install a new one on the back of your alt. Ignition noise can come from a bad spark plug(s), Wires; distributer cap; Etc. So check your ignition syst. and if all alse fails; install a noise suppressor for your radio. Again; These parts can be purchased at the above locations. Good luck.

google how fm and am indicators paintings, you are able to properly be waiting to floor the outer steel to the vehicles chassis as you're in all probability precise with regards to the grounding. there's a ability twine working too on the edge of the antenna twine. or the radio chassis could be grounded.
