What is the cheapest wide-screen and high-definition television there is currently available?

Size doesn't matter.

Thanks.

Also, for the record, it should be a brand-name television, not some generic one.

And also, I really should have phrased the question as "Smallest Size", not cheapest. Smallest high-def/widescreen television available, is what I mean.

I would not go for the cheapest, because that is even going to be an investment. I have begun the process of shopping around and these are the things to consider:

1. Where is the tv going to be? (a sunny room, dark, etc...) That will detrmine the best type, projection, DLP, plasma...

2. Samsung is the leader as far as qureality.

3. I was told not to go bigger than 50"

It appears like you've gotten a cable connection issue or a defective television. call your cable company and characteristic them examine your lines. they're going to be able to make sure in the journey that your getting a very good signal for your television.

anyting thats a no name brand that will probably break when you get home
i would suggest you get something relatively expensive
these other companies never last and there goes your warranty or repairs
