My motherinlaw has custody of her 11 year old grandson who is autistic, just recently he has started to attack her, pinch her arms, and the last incident he started hitting her face as she was sleeping. His parents do not want him, and she is getting to old/weak/sick to take care of him. She is in San Antonio Texas. Shes gone to hospitals and no one will admit him because his blood/urine work comes back without sickness. So what are her other options? She told me she's so desperate she wants to call CPS and tell them she hits him, but she got worried when i told her shed go to jail for abuse. What are her options for putting this little boy in an institution or something along those lines?? I know it's messed up that his parents don't want him, but theyre selfish, i guess. someone please help before it gets worse.

Has he seen a child psychologist? He might be radiating anger towards his parents and specialists know how to get through to autistic children.

there are ALOT of great schools for austic children, inresidential and out patient. for instance, in atlanta the Marcus Institute or Emory's austim center. I wouldn't just use spanking, because austic children don't process things normally. Spanking if you agree with it only works when a child can connect the pain/punishment to the "crime"

i would suggest you google "austim centers" or go to the marcus institute website and see if they have a school near you. These dedicated professionals will help the grandson function more normally. good luck!

She could contact the local school or social services and ask the counselor for assistance in how to manage him. He probably has a case worker and they need to be providing more assistance. She probably qualifies for a home health aid and other benefits - but if she doesn't ask she won't get them. Autism is treatable and he can get better but only if she gets the help they both need. I have included 2 links that better explain autism and the Autism Society. Hope this helps!

She wont get in trouble with CPS for spanking the kid, only if she severely beats the boy, has she thought about taking the boy to Church for some counseling? if she can't handle him, CPS is a good option

She needs to contact agencies and organizations for people (and children) with developmental disabilities. He may have to go to a foster homes. They don't institutionalize people with disabilities anymore and there are barely any group homes available either. Once a person gets hooked up with various agencies and Medicaid, etc, they will find out what all their options are and to help with future planning for their grandson.

There is no reason to go to CPS and make up a story. She needs to let them know the truth about him hurting her.

Send him to my home in North Dakota......I will care for him and get him what ever help he needs.

Excuse me yet what else might want to or not that is said as. someone who isn't wearing the uniform of an known enemy walks into an section the position there are unarmed infantrymen and civilians and starts capturing people down. in accordance to many persons both in and out of the u . s . a warfare does not exist between the Muslim faith and the u . s .! This then turns into an act of terror. in my opinion i trust that the attack on 9-11-2001 constituted in and of itself a press release of warfare presented by a Non-Governmental employer common as basic Muslims. This statement of warfare stands in itself without the reciprocal statement by Congress. we could continually hence pursue the coverage of extermination of all basic Muslims who call for the destruction of u.s.. we could continually hunt them down without regard to area, nationality, or the different description than in case you call for the violent destruction of the u . s .. in case you belong to this variety of crew then you should be killed out of hand.

why doesn't she call cps and tell them he is abusing her? cps is not just for children and if they cant help, then they can direct her to people that can. please understand that this is not his fault, but at the same time she can not deal with any more abuse. that's what i suggest. call cps and ask them who she can turn too.
