Does she work outside the home too? If yes, then I say you'd better get to chowing down pronto.
You're the lucky one : who makes your wife's tea when she's had a hard day's work? You might want to take her out to the pub after work a couple of nights a week, she'll feel less exhausted and be better able to whip up a storm on other nights in the week
However, if it's that she's young and doesn't really know how to cook yet, don't get all worked up about it, buy her a cookbook and give it to her with a kiss and a muttered "Stuff in here looks interesting ,can you try making some o' that for me,love?" I fell in love with cooking in junior high school after getting hold of Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. After a few weeks, me sibs all learnt to skive off cooking detail cuz they wanted me to work the magic at the stove. Who wouldn't want to get a gourmet dinner every night?
My dad would make us kids cook dinner on certain nights of the week.He said that Mom had done her fair share and that she deserved a bit of rest from the grind,so he expected us to give her a perfect dinner by way of thanks for all her care for us. And, now that I'm grown,my guy regularly stops by Burger King or wherever so that I won't have to stand before a hot range every single night of the week, even though he does love my cooking the rest of the week.

OMG!!
I can't believe the answers on this question! they are hilarious!!
First of all what is tea smash?? and processed peas?? Is this healthy? some kind of ritual of some sort?? sounds very strange.....
I mean is this like something you have before your supper comes like meat and pototes and veggies or is this some kind of a joke on your wifes part....is she trying to tell you something??
sorry i don't get it....i would suggest adding some chicken to it,
Ya just drink your tea and put a piece of chicken on the skillet maybe peel a few potatoes, to add to these processed peas.
And just mention that you are really hungry today, but be very nice about it, she'll get the picture (hopefully).
Maybe you should send her to cooking school.
Good luck!!

Maybe that is all she could afford for some reason. Pardon, but I like mash and peas, along with about anything with mash!
Now, you could suggest a bit more with it if the budget allows.
Otherwise, eat it, thank her, and a little later get off your ar*se and fix something else unless you are totally skinned!

has she been out working hard as well? or in the home working hard? if she has been out then its up two both of you to have something prepared , if its the latter then its not much of a dinner, but having said that there are a lot of people in the starving world would be glad of it . I take your point

aaaaaw hun ..I know what you mean, but it is hard sometimes when you've been rushed off your feet and not had a lot of time to rustle up something nice for hubby.
Now I think you should now make yourself something to make her see that the way to her mans heart is through his stomach.
Mind you, I wouldn't make smash and mushy peas for myself let alone my family....sorry!!
No go! and don't be hungry anymore!hehehe

HAHAHAHA! I would eat it, Then I would escort her to the store and show her how to shop for a working man's dinner. Are you newly wed? If so, She might could use some suggestions. If not, you should have made your preferences known to her by now...
