I hate it when a dual carriage way is going down to one lane and you get all the selfish buggers trying to get to the front in the outside lane then cut in at the last minute!

SNAP!!! Whenever I come to this situation I can be easily recognised, the front of my car is basically attached to the back of the car in front of me, there is no way anybody will get in in front of me. If only everybody did this instead of letting them in the traffic for the decent drivers that waited would flow pretty well and the ignorant skum that try to jump the queue can wait til the rush hour is over.

I suppose the answer to this is that not all people are selfish buggers. Some of these drivers might be. But it's got something to do with discipline and order and being forgiving. Have you ever noticed that when you happen to approach a narrow alley/genal some people who might be even ahead of you give way to you (and you're behind them)? It's courtesy. Some people are just like that.

I know what you mean though. It's frustrating when you see drivers pulling in. But I guess half of them aren't doing it deliberately to jump in the queue.

At the end of the day, everybody's going to the same direction anyway - forwards.

If you think driving is dreadful in the UK, just try driving in Africa where the majority of drivers cannot read, having learnt the road signs by rote, not understanding what they mean Once in a long queue of traffic a 4x4 drove up the inside along the hard shoulder to beat the queue, but when he came to a slip road, no-one would let him in and he had to go round to join the motorway again further back.

Pure ignorance, talking on mobiles, shouting at kids, checking make-up (you know who you are!), not using mirrors, hogging 1st overtaking lane (its not a 'middle' lane)

The standard of driving is fairly poor on our little green isle.

Have you ever tried to leave the correct braking distance between you and the car in front. Someone is always going to fill that gap.
