Yes, a very small percentage of soldiers can stay in the Army over 30 years. However, they are either 3 or 4 star generals (as in the JCS) or E-9 Command Sargent Majors. But these soldiers normally served their career in one of the combat army's and not combat support or combat service support branches.

So I would say your odds of staying in the Army (I am a former artillery officer so I am only familiar with the army's QM branch) even 25 years in the Quartermaster corp is pretty slim.

My dad retired as a Navy Commander (same rank as a Lt. Colonel) after 22 years and my uncle retired from the USAF as a full Colonel after 25 years.

What dangers do you foresee in the Quartermaster corp? A paper cut? Yeah, you should be able to live thirty years.
