Get to a doctor as soon as possible. The pain when you blink sounds potentially serious. You may be brushing your outer lens (the cornea), when you blink. And that could cause physical damage ((scratching), and possibly later infection. It will not hurt to pop an antihistamine. (benadryl or any other one that lists diphenhydramine as an ingredient, on ther label.). That might help with the swelling. Consider using ice later. Get off to the E.,R. and have it checked as soon as possible.
Corneal transplants are an expenisve business and a real pain. Forget how you look and call a taxi, stat.
Good luck,
Doc. Dan.

I don't know if age has anything to do with it, but I am 64 and for 4 years have been having trouble with an infection called uveitis. The first hint that I am having another onset is when I look at the sun or the sky. My vision is very blurred. There is no swelling but it could be that different people are affected different ways. Mine is a retinal problem which can cause glaucoma and eventually blindness. Hopefully, this is not what you have, but please get it checked out by an Opthalmologist.

It sounds like an infection. You may have conjunctivitis (sp?). Is the eye pink in color? Is there a sticky discharge from it?
Everyone has a bad eye day once in a while. I don't expect that you'll have much trouble from anybody. And if you do, ignore them. Stick with those friends and colleagues of yours who won't care about it beyond the normal concern.
If it gets worse or doesn't get better by tomorrow, schedule an appointment with your doctor.
Good luck!

I once got a mosquito bite on my eyelid while I slept and woke up looking like I'd been knocked out in the first round by Mike Tyson (although both ears were intact!). An anti-histamine tablet sorted the problem out straight away.

put some ice in a washcloth, dampen it and hold it on the affected eye for 20 minutes every hour. It sounds like you may have a scratched cornea, in which case you should see a doctor for eye drops to prevent infection.

If one eye is smaller
it it is also pinkish and has a little bit of draining its probably pink eye.
it may feel scratchy, blurry, and horrible vision.
It is contagious, so you need to have it checked. As soon as you go in, and get the meds, its like Magic how fast it clears up.
Good Luck

It sounds like pink eye...this nurse at my high school once told me to put a hot tea bag on my eye, not scorching hot, but good enough...that helped me at one time...if not then i suggest seeing a doctor pronto. Hope you get better soon...take care...

I know this sounds wierd, but put hemoroid cream under your eye, it will reduce the swelling and inflamation.
