Given two identical twins, one Christian, and the other not.

If they were both dying in, say, a fire, and you could rescue
only one of them ... which would you rescue?

Why?

In your answer, please include your current religion.

(Yes, this is a cut-and-paste job from a previous question.
For that, I apologize)

If I could save both from certain death by sacrificing myself, that is what I would do. A person's faith would not determine who I would save. We are all human.

I am Wiccan.

Good question but one without an easy answer. All I can say is I'd rescue the one closest to me.

Besides, in a burning building, how would you be able to distinguish which twin was the Christian? Would you even care at the moment? You'd want to save whoever you could and get your tail out of there!

I'm a Catholic.

I would rescue whichever one I had the best chance of getting out alive and reasonably unharmed. Typically, I cannot tell a person's beliefs by looking at them, and even if I could, it wouldn't matter to me. A life is a life, and by my beliefs I am compelled to do what I am reasonably able to save someone's life; be they Christian, agnostic, atheist, Jewish, Satanist, Mormon, Hindu, Muslim, Wiccan, pagan, or what have you.

I would also probably end up sacrificing my own life by going back in and trying to save the other twin. That has nothing to do with my beliefs, it's just the kind of person I am. I do not judge the value of a person by what they believe.

Though humans take priority, I would even rush into a burning building to save a dog or cat, or other beloved pet if I knew there was any chance at all of getting them out alive.

I am Wiccan.

That is an interesting question. I heard a story once, not sure if it were true, where a pastor saw his son, a Christian, wash overboard during a storm along with his friend, who was an atheist. The pastor decided to save the atheist first, reasoning that if his son died, then they would meet again in Heaven, but if the atheist died, he would go to Hell.

According to the story, after the pastor saved the atheist, he could no longer see his son in the water. Presumably his son drowned while the pastor was preoccupied with saving the other boy. Later, according to the story, the atheist was so touched by what the pastor did for him that he converted to Christianity. The pastor said that he did not regret his decision, because now he would see both boys in Heaven someday.

I'm not sure if the story was true, but I agree with the pastor's decision. It was a totally unselfish act. I am a Christian.

I would do my best to rescue both. Or neither. It all depends on how easily accessable either one of them are. If I could get to only one i would get to that one, if I could get both I'd get to both. If I could get to neither, I would stand and watch the fire and cry for the people who love them because they will be missed. But, I would not choose one over the other for religious reasons because i highly doubt if i saw someone burning in a fire I would first be thinking to ask what they believe.

Non-religious...that's right folks I believe in nothing.

If they were identical, it would be hard to know which one was the Christian and which one was unsaved. I would try to rescue them both, but if I knew them and happened to know only one was a Christian, I would rescue the unsaved, because the Christian would go home to be with the Lord, and the rescued twin would get another opportunity to come to know Jesus before eternity. I dare say, that's what the saved twin would want...(I know I would rather the Lord take me, than one of my unsaved loved ones)!

In case you haven't figured it out, I'm a born again Christian ;-)

I would try to save both but barring that possibility I would save the one I could get to with the best chance of getting back out with.

I am a Christian, and I don't know who I would rescue, but it makes sense to rescue the unbeliever so that he or she might have a chance to turn to Jesus. Usually in an intense situation, you don't have time sit and think through the philosophical considerations. In reality I would probably rescue the person that I think I have the best chance of saving, making that decision in a moment, hopefully relying on God's wisdom and power.

I'm a Christian but, I couldn't choose based on religon or not. I would do my best to save both. I am serious. Some might say save the non-christian so she won't go to hell. But I would try and save both.

Thats a easy one, I would save the non Christian, the Christian already has salvation, the non Christian doesn't, If the non Christian dies, they could suffer the fires of Hell, so thats a easy one for me, I hope you can see from my answer that I'm a Christian
