It IS harder to find people you click with as time goes by. Why? Well, you are more defined as a person, more idiosyncratic, and it is harder to find someone who matches your intelligence, interests, and goals. Also, more people are married or paired off, so fewer choices exist. Finally, as we get older, we grow more particular (some would say picky), because most people (30+) want a serious, long-term relationship/marriage.

It does in fact get harder, but these tips should help.
Steps to ‘clicking’ with anyone you meet:
1.Listen. Listen to what the other person is saying. Do you have any experience with the topic of discussion? Add your two cents!
2.Broach subjects that they might be interested in like sports, music, opinions on things going on in your neighborhood.
3.Chances are, if you're meeting new people at an event, you already have something in common... after all, you're both there! Discuss the situation you are in and branch out from there.
Tips
•Maintain "open" body language. By this I mean, don't stand with your arms folded across your body tightly, but be relaxed. They will relax and find it easy to talk to you if they don't see you being tense.
•Always keep eye contact with the other person. It shows you're interested in what they're saying.
•Ask questions about travel, interests, and friends. It's fairly certain that you'll find something in common.
•Talk about the weather! It sounds cliché, but eventually you get around to talking about some fantastic or nasty weather everyone has in common.
Warning
•Sometimes, through no-one's fault, people just don't "click." If you get that feeling, it's not a big deal to chalk that person up to experience and move on. After all, if we were all the same, wouldn't we be boring?
Hope this helps....

I agree. I think it's because as you get older you realize that initial chemistry fades pretty quickly and you are looking for more substance. And the more you look at people, the more you see things that you just don't want to deal with. The older you are, the more past experiences you've had and you carry all of those things with you, no matter how hard you try to leave it behind.

Yes, I have found that to be true...mutual chemistry seems more difficult as I've gotten older...I'm 41 and it's been a while since someone I was intersted in, was interested in me...seeems it's always one way or the other...
...and it gets frustrating after a while, doesn't it?

Because who is gonna believe that there is a man out there
that can sit down beside a woman he does not know, and genuinely be interested in who she is or what she does, without his own agenda.
