I have noticed that I always overeat, because are so many food options at mealtime and I have to try every dish. So I serve myself regular portions of each dish, and by the time I've finished I feel so stuffed! And then like right now, even though I'm full 'cause I ate so much, I have the tremendous urge to go to the freezer and binge on ice-cream, just 'cause I know it's there. Help me out! Any tips on how to adjust this?

Give your self a high 5 for identifying the problem. Most of us are in denial.
you know the problem so try to fix it. You know not to buy the ice cream, you know not to eat so much, to exercise and to watch your portions. The problem is not what you are eating but what is eating you. Its a book check it out at your library. Why would you do this to your self? Is the question. I still have not found my answer yet. But you must know that the over eating is not going to help you. We look to food for comfort- you must find that comfort in something else. I wish you the best of luck. I am having the same problem. Almost like I am afraid of succeeding in my weight loss because then what would be holding me back from other things I am avoiding. Wow I am getting to deep. Sorry but writing to you is actually helping me with my own problems. Thanks for making me think.

Food is an addiction just like tobacco or alcohol. You have to stop yourself. Carbs are a problem for me. I cannot do a traditional way of eating with bread, pasta or even whole grains. The only way I can stop and control my diet is through the low to no carbs. Because if I start eating them I won't stop, which leads to the sugary snacks. And a combination of sugar and carbs packs on the pounds for me. So, I eat meat, cheese (3 oz limit) and veggies (2 cup limit) daily. I'll snack on peanuts and dessert is sugar free jello and whipped cream. This satisfies my hunger, limits my calories and gives enough fat in the diet to where I have no hunger pangs and can control my cravings. You can try water and add crystal light to it, that is a great suggestion. The reason why I personally over eat is the addiction. If I even put a little bit of chocolate cake or one tortilla chip in my mouth, I'm done for!

Oh gosh I used to be very overweight...and I was an emotional eater, this is back when I had depression. I always cleaned off my plate and always looked for more, and was constantly snacking. I would suggest fillling yourself up right before the start of a meal with salad or fresh fruits so you are not filling up on fatty foods later on. It will help in the long run....

So many people, especially girls, confuse hunger for thirst. Try drinking WATER during meals, after every bite, and like right now, you have this urge for ice cream, Drink some water instead, If you are like me, and dont like water, go to walmart and get these fruit punch sweetners, TASTES SOOO GOOD, and has NO calories. It will help you quench your thirst, and you wont want the ice cream. Good luck

Do you smoke green? If not it's a mind over matter thing going on. YOur mind have you thinking you can still eat but your body knows a different story. Don't do it to yourself. Get out the house more often find fun places to go to. Hang out with friends. Because your refrigerator will kill you.

Buy smaller dinners plates. Eurpoeans have much smaller plate sizes than Americans. That way you will put less food on your plate.

Plan your meals ahead of time and premake them and stick to it. Then you know that those good things that you want are on the menu not for today, but for tommorow.

do something else to keep your mind off eating. show some will power! stop thinking about food! avoid doing things that would give you an excuse to eat or snack after you have a meal. overeating is extremely unhealthy for you.
