Go out and buy some snappy artwork, at a Pottery Barn, Pier One, or other such store that you like. You might try visiting http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cda/javascript/ad/adpage/0,2806,,00.html?ai='HGTV!HOME!3655!SECTION!!HOME,HGTV' - if you have cable, they have excellent programming on the HGTV network! As for apartments, http://www.rentaldecorating.com/ is an excellent website. Martha Stewart is also a good place to look for tips; buy some of her magazines at your local bookstore. Good luck, and have fun decorating your new living environment! Just make sure that you do it in a style that both you and your boyfriend can live in! :)

hgtv.com is the best site for do it yourself projects. make sure you talk to the property manager about any painting or upgrades to your unit before you move in. lighting is a good and inexpensive way to focus light and shadows to create the ambiance your looking for. ikea is a cheap place for lighting as well as decorating ideas because of their full room showpeices. Good Luck !!!!

in case you're touching on adorning fairly than furnishing then I recommend you arm your self with a roll of overlaying tape, some paint brushes and a few small pots of wall paint. Assuming the partitions are not too undesirable, you are able to save a fabulous style of money and time via purely adorning accessory partitions, chimney breasts or alcoves. although, you ought to use the tape to make a stripey development (like a bar code) or shapes (squares, rectangles and so on) on some partitions to enhance the room with out having to paint the whole room.
