he WAS delusional. christians claim Jesus IS god. now if Jesus IS god, then Jesus was constantly praying to himself, and he cried to himself on the cross "father father why have you forsaken me!". sounds delusional to me.

It doesn't add up to Him being an insane man though. Any psychologist would look at a person who is claiming something, they don't just go by what they say. They go by their emotions, actions, behavior. Jesus never acted out of the ordinary with His emotions, behavior, etc.
Jesus wasn't paranoid, He cried when His friend Lazarus died, he wasn't irrational in any of the conclusions He made.
Jesus wasn't making miraculous claims about Himself and then letting the people believe what they wanted to. He had proof in the miracles that He did
Also keep in mind that He was around the people for almost 24 hours a day. If he had been a fraud or crazy, they would have discovered it and never would have followed Him.
I don't believe these televangelists that get on the t.v and say they can heal people. There has been case after case of people supposedly being healed and getting sicker or dying. There have also been those who have met these people who claim they are from God but yet their lifestyle and behavior off the camera suggests otherwise. There are eyewitness accounts here, and if they were with them all day every day, the real person would come out.
That is not the case with Jesus. He was around the people all the time and there was not one railing against Him, except for the Pharisees who were trying to discredit Him. Otherwise people followed Him, because the person described in the Bible is the person He was, is, and will always be.
Not to mention that the disciples were closer to Him than anyone. If they knew He was crazy, they would not have followed Him or die for Him. There is proof because they all scattered at Jesus' arrest and crucifixion. It wasn't until they saw Him ressurected and ascended that they had the boldness to go preach the gospel.
If He really wasn't God and just a crazy man, then why has no one found His body? His body that was guarded by two Roman soldiers who were experts at their job, and the tomb was also covered by a huge stone. Why did He later appear to 500? Why did Paul who had never seen Jesus and was perfectly content in killing Christians, completely do a 180 and start serving Him, when He appeared before Him?
I reccomend that you read case for Christ by Lee Stroebel. He was an atheist, who set out on a journey to disprove the Bible and ended up becoming a Christian. He went and saw psychologists, and professors to answer all of the questions he brought against God's word. Chapter 8 discusses whether Jesus was crazy or not. I think you would like it.

Well I personally believe Jesus was the son of God and that he was not mentally insane. Yes he was a carpenter but he was a fisher as well, a fisher of souls. Bush is simply one of the things we have to deal with for a little while longer and then he will be gone, replaced by someone we can hope is at least slightly less Bush like.

Oh right!! An insane person would be so unselfish that they would choose to die for even you? He and the Father are One and the Father created you for a purpose. Don't you wonder what that might be? The war is a fight that needs to be fought and won. I know it's hard for people to grasp because there's nothing in it for them personally. My brother fought and died there and he believed in what he was doing and he loved all people and felt that they needed to be protected from an insane leader. It's not about how we got there--there will always be wars and rumors of wars--would you rather there be war on our own soil? Most soldiers serve because they are selfless and caring, compassionate people who have chosen to live their lives serving you and me. If not them, then who? YOU!!!!!!!!

If Jesus were merely a mentally insane man, how could He have performed so many documented miracles and risen from the dead? If you believe that the Bible is a viable historical document, then you must also believe that Jesus was not only the son of God, but one in the same as God.

Actually we don't "know" he was god's son. We can't even "know" or prove there is or was a god. There's not really a whole lot of solid evidence about Jesus as a person either. For instance... When Romans crucified people they supposedly kept very strict records yet there is no one by the name of Jesus listed as being crucified at that time.
So it seems to me that we need to find more solid historical evidence for his existence before speculating about his sanity or affiliation with god. Also we'd need to prove the existence of god before we could ever begin to speak of a son.
Just because the Bible says something does not mean it's historically correct.
I'm not trying to stir people up here either. It just amazes me how people blindly believe things. I can understand having a "feeling" about god or thinking you have one. I can also understand looking at the universe; thinking it amazing, and considering the posibilty that it was created. You have to understand though that we never really know for sure. Some say they are convinced because of this or that but convinced how? Are there other explanations? Nobody really knows. Look at all the different religions that believe different things. They can't all be right. If you were born jewish you'd believe Jesus was not the son of god, and you'd believe it just as strongly as a Christain believes he is. How can anyone say which is right? Maybe they're both wrong.
It's funny to me that people go to war and kill over beliefs that can't even be known to be true. Think about that. Imagine if what you believed were false yet all this time you've been fighting for that belief. How stupid would that be? How pointless would it all have been?
A lot of people are too close minded to even consider these things but I figured I'd throw them out there anyway.

Don't think so as there were over 300 prophecies in the old testament about Christ, where he would be born, how he would die, do a web search on prophesies about Christ. Then do a search on fulfilled prophecies of the bible or just prophecies of the bible and see what you can find, paying close attention to the dates it was prophesied and the date it was fulfilled, makes for a fun study, and to note that the prophesies were fulfilled with 100% accuracy..............

I think a lot of people back then believed Jesus because they already had part of the Bible and were looking for him since it was prophesized for him to show up on the scene at that time - then when he started resurrecting people and performing miracles I'm sure the people who saw that were pretty convinced. Good research topic since so many people have opinions about the topic.

Since Jesus was God's son, and God we need to look for proof. Wouldn't God, reveal Himself to man? Wouldn't God live a perfect sinless life and heal people? Yes. And Jesus did these things. Someone insane wouldn't-couldn't do these things.

The Bible is always up in questioning. I don't know what to believe really...but I do believe there is something...I just don't believe in a bunch of the things that are in there. Maybe there are books missing or it just is being interpreted wrong, but there are some things that make me understand why you are asking!

Jesus is God in human flesh. He Himself claimed to be. So was he a liar, a lunatic, or what He really claimed to be? BTW, We ARE fighting terrorism. Iraq is just one front in a world-wide battle.
