I am looking for somewhere that has lots of choice and colours and that supplies ribbed chenille for upholstery as I am making my own sofa.

Osborne and Little have a good selection of chenilles. However, if this is above your price range, check out John Lewis - they have a surprisingly good selection.

Oh, and if you're using chenille on a sofa, it might be better to look at a contract grade fabric - ie 40,000+ rubs, as it can wear down quite quickly.

Look up upholstery fabric in the phone book & you should be able to find some stores in your town. Do you have a Hancock Fabrics store in you area?
That's really cool that you are making your own sofa. I hope it turns out great. I've made upholstered blanket chests and such but you are really brave.
