I just found out that I have a step sister. I barely join myspace, and a month into the program a girl wanted me to add her as a friend. I look at her profile and saw that a lot of my family member were in her friend list. I just assume that she was my cousin. I ask one of my cousin about her and she told that she was my half sister. I dont know what to do, I dont know what to talk to her about. If you have any advice please tell me.

First, Step siblings are totally different from Half sibling. A Step sibling is a brother and/or sister you acquire from a parent getting married and your new step-parent has a child. Half siblings are brothers and sisters you share ONE biological parent.

If I was in your situation I would be emailing her or getting in contact with her. I would ask her who her parents are, and "surprise" we are sisters!

First you need to get past the first conversation and aware that everyone reacts differently. Then allow for shock and uncertainty to enter and hopefully past. Invite her over and encourage her to spend time to get to know you. Start of slow. Eventually you could end up being close, but it takes time.

There's a difference between a step-sister and a half-sister. If you have a parent in common (which would make her your half-sister) that would be a great place to start - talking about your parent. You are basically strangers and need to get to know one another from the beginning. Ask simple questions like you would a new person and make small steps towards getting to know one another.

Start out slow. Small talk is best. Ask her about her childhood, and tell her about yours. You should play a little "Get to know me game" see what you have in common (favorite hobbies, foods, actors, etc) I'm sure you'll find that the two of you have more in common than just a relative. Good luck!! You should be happy that she wants you to be a part of her life. Embrace her.

Just tell her what you have discovered. Maybe she knew this and wasn't sure how to tell you or what to say to you. Never too late to find siblings. Talk to her.

Why not ask your parents or guardians what is going on and have them arrange a meeting.
