It's just an advertising ploy, friend. Alcohol is famous for being high in calories. Somebody should be reported for it actually, if that's what they are saying....

I have not seen the commercials that you are referring to. Alcohol has calories; so I don't see how they can advertise no calories. Maybe you are misunderstanding the commercial. If they are in fact advertising that, the Interstate Commerce Commission should have a talk with them. 80 proof alcohol has 64 calories per ounce or 96 calories per normal 1.5 ounce shot.

The site below gives calorie content of some common alcoholic beverages.

all types of hard alcohol (whisky, rum, brandy etc.) are distilled, that is boiled and the 'volatile' part of it (that is the stuff which evaporates easiliy) which is alcohol is collected, cooled and aged if required and presto u get ur booze. So technically alcohol has zero calories... but nutritionists say that it has 'empty' calories which are not useful to the body in any way but are effectively calories... (i know... ur guess is as good as mine about that one.... may wanna ask a nutritionist....) beer, cider etc on the other hand are just fermented and brewed and are loaded with cals hence the 'beer belly'

It is only the clear Bacardi and it has to do with the way it is absorbed as opposed to other liquors. Also the fake sweeteners in the diet soda get you drunk a little faster and the content higher and for longer a period of time from what I read.

Actually the ad campaign states "Zero Carbs" not zero calories - good trick though, most folks forget there is a difference.
