The first most widely named brand of pacifiers was called Binky. Everyone just started calling them that. Before then like back in the very old days they used to make what was called a sugar-tit. It was a piece of cheesecloth with sugar in it tied in a very tight knot.

I think binky is actually a brand name for a certain brand of pacifiers. Everyone just started calling them all binkies. Just like everyone uses the name Kleenex for what you blow your nose into. When really Kleenex is the brand, like Puffs.

There is a brand of pacifiers called Binky's, but everyone has a different name for them. We call them Binky, plugs, pacies, nuki, pie hole stoppers. All my kids called them differently, miachel called it a dinker, Derin called it a pacie, Breanne called it a plugger, bailey called it a Binky, and Kaila called it a nuki. I guess it is just the word they heard when growing up, or just something easier to call it than a pacifier!!!!
My favorite one is the plug!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have heard people calle it a binky. I guess it depends on where you are from. I am hispanic, so we call it BOBO. And I have a friend from the West Indies and she calls her sons pacifier a "Tut".

"Binky" is a brand of pacifier. I don't even know if they still make binkies or not.

I think it depends on what the parent use to call it when they were a child. There are several names for a pacifier.
