There is someone here that has posted some incredible answers, but this person cannot be contacted, even through email. Why do some wish not to be contacted at all?

The one to whom I speak has not answered yet... c'mon, you know who you are.

(sorry if this is chatting)

Not that many of you don't have good answers too, it's just that for me there is one here that stands out.

because some people can just be harrassing. I have allowed people to contact me but sometimes I regret it. Most of the time, people just want to discuss and answer or question and though they disagree- the discussions are reasonable and respectful, but I have had some that just want to send an insulting and hate filled message regarding something I said. I generally don't answer them back but I really don't appreciate getting them- I don't treat people like that. Some people don't want to deal with this at all and I don't blame them, it is their right to privacy and to not be harrassed.

I'm one of those people who has no contact information. I work 60+ hours a week. I moonlight as an author. I am the managing editor of a small publishing company. I have several websites and online stores I run. I am also the high priestess of a local temple. I have a hard enough time keeping up with e-mail for all of that, let alone e-mail from here. :)

Maybe when signing up, they did not wish to (and maybe still do not wish to) take part or too shy to take part in the way some like to take part. Maybe they have someone at home who might see e-mails but would never think to check Q&A for participation. I know of no way to solve your problem.

They could have had a horrible experience in the past. I just got some hate mail myself a couple of days ago. Some women (christian) told me that I'm a nothing and that my answers are hurtful. Oh well, but that may be the reason. :)

I can understand it. I don't mind some dialogue through e-mails but inevitably you get the occasional crackpot who feels the need to send you a load of mindless abuse.

Perhaps they have a strong need for privacy. Perhaps they wish to share their knowledge but not get sucked into a personal relationship.

I agree, there are some serious right wing fundamentalists on this forum and I am sure I have pissed some of them off, so I would not want their emails

Think about some of the people who are posting on this forum... would you want those people contacting you?

I suppose that they are too busy to respond to a flood of e-mail. Either that, or they are afraid that they will get a lot of immature, unpleasant e-mail.

They might not realize that that option is turned off in their profile.
